The store, located on Main Street in downtown Bristol, was started by two friends, Harry and Betty Kappel and opened its doors on October 15th, 1951. With a wide variety of optics and sunglasses available from both local businesses and prestigious retailers such as Sears and J.C. Penney, the store quickly became an essential part of town life. In addition to selling eyeglasses, optical equipment such as telescopes and microscopes, light bulbs, clocks and other sundry items were also sold at the store. In 1958 the store moved to its current location on Exchange Street in downtown Bristol after being donated by Mr. Kappel’s widow Betty to help maintain Downtown’s Historic District. The Shop continued to sell optics until it closed its doors in 1984 after more than 50 years of continuous business operation!

In 1824, Bristow Township was created from part of Sheffield Township when it was divided along racial lines following the Battle of Bunker Hill. At that time, black Americans were not allowed to own land or vote in New England; therefore, Bristow had little impact on local politics until after reconstruction began following World War II. In 1865, phase two of Connecticut's canal system opened up new markets for Bristol-based businesses such as soap manufacturing and garment production; these industries helped drive growth within Bristol over the next fifty years. Today, many downtown businesses remain open traditional industries while newer establishments have risen up around them catering to today's palate: cafes/lounges/bars/restaurants etcetera abound throughout central Business District (CBD). One notable example is The Ritz-Carlton which opened its doors in 2001 adjacent to University Park Elementary School – becoming one of only four hotels outside Manhattan (the others being The Plaza hotel on Fifth Avenue),Times Square Hotel etcetera located right off I-95 exit ramp provide excellent access by car into downtown without ever leaving Interstate 95 alive!

Bristol, Connecticut is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 10,819 at the 2010 census. Bristol was founded in 1692 and became a city in 1837. It is the second largest city in New England after Boston. The first permanent settlers of what would become Bristol were Quakers who arrived from Philadelphia in 1692. They built their dune-lined village on land that now forms the eastern edge of downtown Bristol and developed it as a small farming community with several sawmills and gristmills to produce flour for local consumption and export to other towns in New England. In 1837, when Hartford County was created from portions of Hartford Township and Westfield Township (including parts of what are now North Haven and East Haven), Bristol became one of its seven cities. By this time Bristols population had reached 11,000 people including many families who had relocated from rural areas around Greater Manchester or Cheshire to make new lives in an expanding city filled with opportunity. During its history Bristols economy has been highly diversified with heavy industries including heavy machinery manufacturing (e.g., Maytag ovens), light manufacturing (textile products such as clothing brands Levi Strauss & Co.), information technology (internet service providers AOL Time Warner Communications Services Inc.) and real estate development (the successful construction of One World Trade Center). Today much of the traditional downtown business district remains vibrant thanks to restaurants such as Benares Greek Restaurant which opened its doors on Main Street in 1951 followed by several others over the ensuing decades including Pizzeria Mozza which opened on Market Square adjacent to State Fairgrounds in 1987; Jamba Juice Corporation’s first store opened at First National Bank Plaza next door to State Fairgrounds – becoming one of the largest food retailers ever located inside an indoor amusement park; Stonewall Inn & Brewery - home since 1978 of The Poker Run pub chain which has grown into one of Stamford’s most popular tourist destinations; numerous art galleries including The Museum Of Fine Arts – Boston (MFA) ; three major hospitals: Yale-New Haven Hospital/John F Kennedy Medical Center/Stamford General Hospital;[1] three major universities: University Of Hartford/Hartford College/University Of Bridgeport ;[2] two minor airports - Bradley International Airport outside Norwich for cargo transport only [3]and Danbury Municipal Airport [4]. With so many businesses active Downtown there has never been enough space for all OFAC designated terrorist groups! In recent years some changes have started happening Downtown although not all are positive given how this area continues to trend violent especially late at night where crime rates continue high rise even though resources like police officers have decreased significantly overall despite being mandated under President Trump’s recently adopted policy called “Fixing America”
