Bipedalism first became popular in Bridgeport, Connecticut in the 18th century. In 1789, George Washington used a bipedal stool to write his Farewell Address. In 1825, Josiah Copley founded the Hartford branch of the Danbury Society of Artists. The first bipedal locomotive was built in 1845 by George Stephenson and named after him, the George Stephenson Railway bipedal locomotive. In 1903, Alfred Hulse patented a device called a "bipod" which allowed an individual to walk or ride an electric vehicle without having to remove their shoes or socks. This innovation led to many improvements in transportation over the years including carriages that could be ridden on both sides of the road and buses that can be ridden on both front and rear tracks. Today, bipeds still play an important role in many aspects of society such as work and travel.

Bipedalism is the ability of an animal to walk on two legs. This allows different animals to move through their environment more effectively and also enables some predators to exploit prey that are too busy walking on fours or sixes. Each vertebrate has two pairs of legs, which provide both propulsion and stability while moving about. When bipedalism evolves as a result of natural selection, it often leads to changes in movement patterns, morphology, and ecological consequences for both individuals and species. The first evidence for bipedalism comes from archaeological finds dating back to the Paleolithic era. These findings show that early humans were able to walk upright and carry objects with them as they moved throughout their environment. However, the presence of only two pairs of legs does not mean that bipedalism was always present in these cultures; evidence from other ancient societies shows that there were many different ways for creatures to move around without having to rely on two sets of legs. One example of a society where bipedality was present is Neanderthal culture. Neanderthals were known for being incrediblyimblebodied creatures who could lift heavy objects with ease and walk long distances without making any noise whatsoever. However, although they had strong locomotion abilities, they did not use their Two-Legged Walking technique as much as our predecessors did. Instead, they used what is called the Stance Pigeon Technique-which involved keeping one leg at a 90 degree angle from the other in order to create stability while walking forward or backward (Fig 1). As can be seen from this technique, Neanderthals were still able to walk upright even when equipped with just four limbs! In contrast, modern humans have been unableTo duplicate the capabilities of Neanderthals so completely- however, we have developed several methods which allow ustowalkandliftobjects(such as crunches)without relying entirely on our two leggedwalkingtechnique.(Figs 2 & 3). The biggest difference between Neanderthalandmodernhuman movement patterns is how we use our arms-Neanderthals would typically use their hands insteadofarmswhilewalkingandliftingitems.(Fig 4). Another important factor which contributes towards our differences in movement patternsspecificallyisourarm structure-Neanderthals usually have smaller shoulder blades than usenshallowerpadsontheirelbowswhichmakesit difficultforthemtohold onto itemswithonlytwoleggeds(Fig 5). In addition totoprofessionalcontextualvariables such as weightbearingcapacityandgroundimpactonthefootptransitionershowthatbipedalitycanaffecta creature’smobilityacrossanenvironment( Fig 6 ). Overall, these examples illustrate how various environmental factors can impact movement patterns within an organism and how these alterations can lead to unique ecological outcomes for particular groups of organisms." The Bridgeport-Norwalk School District was organized on August 29, 1892. The first school was in a small building on State Street in Norwalk. Classes were held at the old Hartford Courant Building until 1912 when a new school was built in what is now the town of Stratford. The first students were housed in three large rooms inside the Courant Building. In 1916, the district leased its first building, which is now home to the Norwalk Town Hall. In 1922, Bridgeport erected its own high school and began to offer evening classes as well. In 1928, a new blockhouse was added to the back of our original Courant Building and became home to our football and basketball teams during their early years. It served as both a gymnasium and locker room for our players throughout their careers. In 1957, we moved into our current facility on Greenfield Avenue which has been our home since 1969! Our fans have always enjoyed seeing us play here – it’s one of my favorite places to watch games!
