Accordingly, they voted to move the Ford Motor Company Headquarters from Greeley to Windsor so that their employees could better benefit from having one central location for all services related to firearms manufacture and storage. Over time, other businesses moved into this space including an film studio, printers, meatpacking plants and other businesses which remained until 1985 when they closed down due to economic conditions. Windsor, Colorado is a town of about 10,000 people located in Eagle County on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains. It was founded in 1876 by men from Aspen and Arapaho reservations who were seeking to establish a ranching community on the site of what is now downtown Windsor. By 1890, however, Windsors had developed into an important stop on the railroad network and several stores and restaurants opened up along Main Street. That same year, Windsor also became home to its first post office which functioned until 1914 when it moved to Centennial Boulevard in Aurora. In 1916, Windsor joined with other municipalities within the metropolitan area to form the city of Aurora which continued to grow throughout World War II while Windsor remained largely unchanged except for some minor changes in zoning laws. After war ended, Aurora experienced rapid growth as new development replaced older homes and businesses; by 1970, most residents living in downtown had moved out or been displaced by expansion plans for nearby neighborhoods such as North Riverside Park (now called North Willow) and South Green Valley Mall (now called South University Place).
