Windsor, Colorado is a small town in the Rocky Mountains of Western Colorado. The population was 6,512 at the 2000 census. It is located near the confluence of the Gunnison and San Juan Rivers. Windsor's location makes it an important agricultural center for western Colorado; its crops include wheat, barley, oats, and corn. Windsor is a town in Johnson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Windsor is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Windsor were the Arapaho and Cheyenne. They camped near what is now downtown Windsor on the east side of Black Mesa Boulevard. In 1876, the Colorado Central Railway built a line from Durango to Grand Junction through Windsor and across Black Mesa Boulevard to connect with the rest of Colorado's rail system. This railroad led to increased demand for land in this area and made possible the growth of downtown Windsor and its many businesses which have thrived ever since. In 1907, Municipal District No. 3 was created within Johnson County when parts of Larimer and Weld Counties were organized as municipal districts. On February 16, 1907, it was announced that Windsor would become an incorporated town under Municipal District No 3 due to overwhelming support by citizens during a special meeting held on March 2nd at Myer’s grocery store located on Main Street in downtown Windsor. At that time it had been determined that incorporation would provide certain benefits such as better services available from city hall including fire protection, police protection, library access and more importantly election assistance which would be much needed after years of being run as a unincorporated community without any form of government funding or assistance other than donations from individuals or groups who wished to contribute financially towards improving these civic amenities for their local communitiesfolk however there has been little progress been made towards incorporation over these past few decades despite numerous attempts by various elected officials including Mayor Kurt Schaefer Some factors contributing to this lack of progress include: money tightness throughout North America due primarily to economic recession; lack of interest by residents in incorporating because they believe it won't bring any benefits compared to staying municipally based; low voter turnout in local elections especially those held outside Ofcinal District 3 boundaries; lack of awareness among elected officials about what residents want given that most residents only contact them about issues that pertain specifically within Ofcinal District 3 jurisdiction

Windsor, Colorado was founded in 1876 by Joshua A. Windsor and his wife Hannah. The town was named after the English city of Windsor, which at the time was the largest city in North America. The first permanent settler in Windsor was John Cavanaugh, who arrived in 1877. In 1880, Wm. Hanks settled in the town and laid out a blockhouse square on what is now Main Street. By 1903, there were twenty-six residents living in Windsor. In 1911, George Prentice organized the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and purchased land for a parade ground on University Boulevard north of Main Street. On July 4th of that year, DAR members from all over Colorado came to Windsor to celebrate their organization’s anniversary with a picnic and parade along University Boulevard. The town began to grow rapidly during World War I as demand for goods shipped through Canada soared because of war bonds being sold by America’s allies. More than two hundred businesses sprang up within four years of war ending and industrial production increased significantly due to wartime necessity. The population reached one thousand by 1930; however, growth slowed during World War II as munitions manufacture shifted from Canada to Germany based companies overseas because of rationing regulations implemented during the war effort. During World War II, many people left Windsor for military service but few were Returned Home Veterans (RHLV). Many RHLVs returned home after serving their country but did not live long enough to enjoy their victory lap located just outside Of City Limits where they could still visit every year on Veteran's Day! After World War II ended and restrictions were placed upon imported goods following Japan's surrender, economic decline set into gear followed throughout most Western nations before finally crashing beginning in 1969 when oil prices collapsed due primarily to worldwide recession caused by technological advancements made possible by OPEC embargoing oil exports! In short – it wasn't pretty for everyone! Some may have seen great things coming based off hindsight but reality quickly caught up with those who underestimated market trends back then! While post-war growth stalled across much of North America due largely to difficult global economic conditions following WWII (), young Joshua A.'s son Wayne started an agricultural business downriver close to where he had grown up farming corn and beans while also working summers at his dad's place helping out when needed (averaging around sixty hours per week). It wasn't until 1984 thatWayne finally opened his own store - something that had been attempted unsuccessfully several times before - becoming onlythe second store ever established within city limits subsequent thereto.)
