WDOK-TV was founded in 1959 as part of ABC Radio Network operations within Colorado Springs until its sale to CBS Radio Worldwide in 1984; WDOK has since beenoperated by Cumulus Media Networks Inc., owner of KOA radio station KBOS-FM (105.3 MHz), serving primarily Centennial Heights/Wheatridge Township communities east of I-25 During World War II some residents converted their farmhouses into military barracks called "Fortress" during production run shortages; these barracks are now remnants of former Axis fighter aircraft storage sites around town today!
