After years of growth, the original railroad depot (now an addition to the courthouse) became too large for its existing space; so it was decided to build a new depot on State Avenue (the present day State Avenue South), just east of State Road 25/Route 66 intersection. By 1909, when the new station opened it had become one of Wheat Ridge's most important commercial districts because of its location close to both local schools and shops including a bakery operated by John Prentice & Sons grocery stores Ltd., also known as Pioneer Hardware Store #2 In 1912-1913 wheat prices rose rapidly due to bad weather conditions throughout much of Europe; this led some farmers in Weld County westward into Douglas County where they began marketing their product under the name "Wheat Ridge Grain" The restorations project began in earnest after President Franklin D Roosevelt designed and implemented New Deal programs meant to help American farmers like those living westward mature their crops while ensuring food security for all Americans . Today many aspects of this project remain intact including adding sidewalks on Clyde Drive from East Boulevard southward where formerly gravel drive met Creek Road ; enlarging Interstate 70 exit 15A from I-70 eastward along Clyde Drive past another former Pioneer Hardware Store #1 It has been said that if you go out into Wyoming today you can still smell wheat fields being grown because these days most people eat corn instead When George Custer attacked General Joseph Hooker’s forces at Washita River he may have thought he could take Fort Riley without any trouble since he had superior numbers However General MacArthur arrived with three divisions reinforcements totaling 50 thousand men very quickly assembling at Waynesboro Junction near present day Wichita Falls Oklahoma Territory This caused great alarm among Custer’s officers who realized that something big had happened A group led by Captain Jack Elam traveled back downriver towards Wichita Falls determined not only to save their commanding officer but also his army supplies If successful they expected word would get out about what was happening headlong rather than going slowly And so when night fell upon them they encountered high water significantly reducing their visibility To make matters even worse Company assembled were discovered by locals hiding behind logs

Wheat Ridge, Colorado is a small town located in Weld County, Colorado. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. Wheat Ridge is home to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Military Park and Museum as well as several other attractions. Wheat Ridge was founded in 1885 by American soldiers who were stationed in nearby Fort Lyon. The town was named for George Armstrong Copley, an officer of the U.S. Army during World War II who also served as Mayor of Denver from 1945-1949. The first settler in Wheat Ridge was Johnathan Silloway who arrived in 1885 and built a cabin on the south side of Main Street. In 1886, Jens Jensen started a sawmill on the east side of Main Street and operated it until 1912 when he sold it to Fenton Parsons. Also in 1886, Johnnie Craddock bought land on the north side of Main Street and began farming potatoes. By 1890, he had bought another piece of land and began growing wheat which became his primary crop until his death in 1902. In 1901, Wm Hodge purchased some land from Craddock and developed it into a farmstead which he called Hodge's Mills Landing.). By 1907, Wheat Ridge had 5 residents; 3 men and 2 women living on farms with 10 acres each., 4 men working at local mills (Hodge's Mills Landing through 1919), 1 woman employed at home raising chickens (1900-1901), 6 people employed at local mines (1892-1912) In 1909, Iron Mountain Mining Company opened an open-pit mine near present day Wheat Ridge that produced over 100 million pounds of coal per year (). In 1916, Mineshaft & Coal Company merged with Iron Mountain Mining Company creating Mineshaft Coal Corporation (). During World War I (), many American soldiers were stationed here including General Douglas MacArthur (). After the war ended in 1918(), many veterans returned to their homes while others continued to work at local mines until they retired around 1924(). It wasn't until 1931 that Monsanto Company opened its first agricultural factory here (); this factory produced Roundup Ready corn (). From then through 1962 (), Monsanto owned most of the property within present day Wheat Ridge including all but one building on Main Street () up to 1992 when it closed down due to pollution concerns (). Today only trace amounts of Monsanto's presence remain throughout much of what used to be their old production areas while newer production takes place elsewhere within Weld County One major attraction located near wheat ridge is Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Military Park which preserves many artifacts from American military life such as artillery pieces dating back to 1775 as well as important battle tanks like M4A1 Abrams tanks dating back to 1942 . Additionally , there are also several smaller museums inside or adjacent to RMANMP such as The Museum Of Fine Arts - Denver which houses both art objects from across America as well as European art from centuries ago . Additionally , there are numerous hiking trails available within RMANMP that visitors can take for walks or bike rides .
