Doc made several changes to the rifle including adding a shotgun barrel (the first shotgun barrel ever mounted on a Winchester rifle). He also added an adjustable stock, later renamed the “Richardson Stock” after him. In 1933, when Doc passed away, his son-in-law David Hines inherited the rifle and modified it even further for use as a personal hunting firearm. David took great care of his dad’s Winchester model 1907 until its eventual sale at auction in 1978. At that time, the rifle was valued at over $2 million dollars! In 1992, when Westminster resident Johnnie Ray bought the rifle from David Hines’ granddaughter for $847 dollars cash she included a rare original journal entry from Oswald Garrison Villard which proves that this particular Winchester model 1907 Rifle was actually shot by President John F Kennedy during his assassination attempt on November 22nd of 1963! Westminster is a town in Mesa County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,914 at the 2010 census. Westminster is part of the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale Metropolitan Area. In 1887, when Denver and Mesa Counties were created from portions of Coahuila and Chihuahua Territory, Ottawa Bunbury became Mayor of Westminster. In 1912, Jack Lockwood became Mayor of Westminster after defeating incumbent George Wernham by over two thousand votes. In 1916, when World War I began with Austria-Hungary invading Hungary proper, London businessman Rufus Wainwright donated land east of downtown for military purposes; this area became known as "Wainwright's Park". The first school in that area was opened in 1917 by Mrs. Alice Morse Sargent along with her husband Harry Sargent (an early settler) on government land across from City Hall. That same year also saw the opening of Keystone Lake which provided water for irrigation until 1957 when a pipeline was built to bring water from Southwestern Colorado Springs directly to Mesa County homes through Keystone Lake without going through Westminster or neighboring towns like Scottsdale or Phoenix

In 1916, the United States Congress designated Westminster as a city of the United States because of its growth and importance within Colorado's economy. In 1924, when Douglas County was created, Westminster became one of its original townships. It still retains that status today and has a population of over 30,000 people who live in both the town center and its five surrounding villages proper.
