Westminster is a small town in the San Miguel County seat of Westminster, Colorado. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver–Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The economy is based on agriculture and ranching. The first settler in what would become Westminster was A.W. White who arrived in 1872 along with his family from Illinois. In 1875, J.F. Smith settled near present-day Westminster while prospecting for gold near Golden and Kipling Creek (now called Clear Creek). In 1896, John Hulse settled on a farm east of town along Clear Creek. He built a two-story log cabin which still stands today as the business headquarters of Hulse Dairy products and other agricultural activities around it until it burned down in 1987; this marked the first time that Westminster had ever been struck by fire! In 1902, entrepreneurs Ephraim Neely and Hiram Guthrie platted what would become Westminster on land that they had bought from J F Smith six years earlier for $1 per acre (this became known as "Neely's Ranch"). Neely operated a grocery store and post office there until 1922 when he sold his interest to Wm Crain who ran it until 1925 when it was taken over by Frank Bemisman who operated it until 1951 when it was purchased by Harry Goudreau who operated it until 1984 when it passed into the hands of his son Dick Goudreau Jr., currently owner/operator of Goudreau’s place across from Keystone Lake State Park where he resides with his wife Karen and their three children: Ethan (ages 4-9), Katie (ages 10-14), & Owen (ages 15+.) The early settlers were primarily German immigrants but soon after arrival some Englishmen also began arrive including James Whelan who came in 1898 along with his brother George Prentice from Liverpool England followed by Harry Dorman in 1903 and Clarence Griffiths arriving about 1907 or 1908 both men being naturalized citizens of Colorado! About 1912 Charles Kapp published an article entitled " Westminster - A Place To Call Your Own" which discussed how people were starting to move away from Nauvoo IL due to high prices there for farmland so they moved into nearby Evergreen City CO where they could be free from religious persecution! After reading this article Kapp took up farming himself outfitting groceries for local farmers before moving back to Nauvoo IL later becoming president of First National Bank! During World War I many soldiers home sickened or died enroute home due to lack of food Supply especially during winter months but this didn't stop people here from buying various items like flour etc needed for war production so no one really lost anything although some did have financial losses because some members did sell their businesses during wartime! After the war many new residents arrived such as prohibitionist prohibitionist Gus Griggs coming in 1919 after working at Winchester Distributors Co since 1911 while also owning several farms outside town including Strawberry Mesa southwest of town & Hardwire Gulch northeast corner between town center & Strawberry Mesa just east of I-25& access Rd leading southward through townsite now occupied by Interlocken Ski Resort however parts visible above ground still remain evidence history mixed with today's community name

The history of Westminster can be traced back to 1875 when Scots immigrants arrived in what is now Moffat County for what seemed like an impossible task: finding a place to settle down after being driven out of their previous home in Buchanan County by Indian hostilities. They found success thanks to a combination of hard work, ingenuity, andLuck which has characterized them ever since. One key factor that contributed to this success was the fact that these newcomers had little choice but to establish themselves in a new environment where there were no established settlements or businesses nearby; they needed space and opportunity for their own development if they wanted to succeed. In 1912, when Westminster became an incorporated city under statehood rule following Colorado’s admission into the Union as a republic, it quickly emerged as one of the most important localities within neighboring Denver-Aurora-Lakewood metropolitan area due largely to its growth potential and entrepreneurial spirit. Today, Westminster remains one ofutes leading economic engines within both communities while also providing opportunities for residents from all walks of life to thrive together - something that has made it one of Colorado’s top populations attracting people from all overthe country.
