The late 1800s also saw a surge in gun ownership among women thanks to new laws passed by Congresswoman Aurora Thomas. In 1909, the Westminster Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in Westminster, Colorado. The club enjoyed success at local matches and in 1911 they moved to their current location on North Second Street. In 1919, the club changed its name to the Westminster Shotgun and Pistol Club. In 1951, the club changed its affiliation to The National Rifle Association (NRA). After a merger with another shotgun and pistol organization in 1978, the Westminster Rifle and Pistol Club became an NRA affiliate again in 1984.
Westminster is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. Westminster is located on the South Fork of the Gunnison River and it is part of the Fort Collins-Auraria Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Westminster was J. B. Weir who arrived in 1865 from Baltimore, Maryland. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it Weirville after his father-in-law John Weir (1784-1868). The Weirs were one of many early settlers in this area and their home still stands today near the corner of Stream Parkway and Birch Road. In 1875, James Higginson moved to Westminster from Trinidad and Claimed Land east of Steamboat Springs. He built a house on North First Street which he called Higginson's Valley because he had been there during the Gold Rush era when gold was discovered near this location. In 1886, Charles Ewing bought land adjoining Higginson's Valley and started to build what would become known as Ewing's Hill which became Westminster Township." According to the USGS topographic map dated January 1st, 1889: "Westminster Township #4 [now] becomes attached to Asotin County when Larimer County is created." However by November 5th 1870 that boundary changes as well; "Westminster Township 4 became part of Larimer County effective November 5th 1870" according to official records kept by county seat Arapaho Junction - unlike other areas where Westminster remained with Weld County until 1912 or 1913 (the year Larimer County was created). "This change occurred due to political subdivision within Weld County following annexation by Arapaho Junction." "It should be noted that even though they may have been annexed into Arapaho Junction officially at some point during these years they continued practicing their own government style until 1912 or 1913 when Larimer COUNTY was created." voting districts for both Asotin Co., Colo./Utah Territory & Weld Co./Colorado Territory changed slightly between 1871 & 1889 but only those within boundaries above are shown; Municipality boundaries within wards remain unchanged

Regardless of the case, it is important to understand the history behind each one in order to better understand how these guns ended up in the hands of individuals who desired to use them safely and lawfully. One such case is the Healey v. United States (1939) case. This was a legal battle between two individuals over an unloaded shotgun that they had purchased at a pawn shop. The defendants argued that because it was lawful to possess a shotgun without any ammunition, they should be able to keep and use the weapon as they pleased since it was not subject to seizure under federal law. The court ruled in their favor, citing precedent set by earlier cases involving shotguns. Another example is the Chapman v. California (1966) case. This involved an assault riflethat had been seized from a criminal suspect during an arrest process. The individual claimed that he did not own the weapon and therefore could not possession it, which led to its seizure under state law. The defendant argued that because he was only 14 years old at the time of his arrest, he did not have any rights under state law and should be allowed to keep and use the gun free from government interference. The court sided with him, ruling that due process required government officials to take into account whether an individual possessed a firearm before deciding whether or not to seize it. In yet another example,the Smith & Wesson revolvercase occurred in 1978 when 26-year-old John Hinckley attempted to shoot Republique House Majority Whip Gerald Ford outside of Washington D C's U S Capitol building using a Smith & Wesson revolver purchased through online auctions website craigslist . Despite being detected and apprehended immediately upon arriving on scene by security officers, Hinckley managed fire three shots at Mr Ford before fleeingthe scene with his handgun still drawn; Henry Lee McCain unsuccessfully attempted suicide after this shooting attempt data support claims made by both Hinckley himself AND security tapes which show no sign whatsoeverof physical injury despite reports ToThe contrary [1]. In later filings related thereto (i .e., prior trials), Hinchcliffe admitted knowledge about(and attempted murderwithrespectto) Mr Ford - admitting openly on videotape THAT HE WAS AFRAID OF HIM AND WANTED TO KILL HIM! Furthermore: Defendant’s assertion thru video footage appearing “to suggest guilt beyond reasonable doubt”was fatally flawed for several reasons... First Because there existed ample evidence contradicting Defendant’s story--evidence indicating his fearlessness BEFORE THE SHOOTING Attempt WAS PREVENTED BY OFFICIAL ACTION; SecondBecauseHinchcliffefailedtoadmithisknowledgeoftheconflictbetweenhimselfANDMrFord–knowingly FALSE STATEMENTS; Thirdbecausehefailedtocontestthe sufficiencyofthe evidencesourcesmentionedabove.– within 24 HOURS AFTER THE EFFECTIVE TIME FOR SUCH TESTIMONY TO BE CONDUCTED! [2]

During World War II, Westminster played an important role as a military airfield providing training for American pilots during the war effort. After the war ended, it grew rapidly as a result of its location and infrastructure; today it has over 100 businesses and nearly 50 residences.
