Gun swivels have been around since the 1800s and are still used today to rotate a firearm in a holster. They were first patented by George Washington in 1795. The early designs relied on metal circles that would rotate with the gun. However, this was difficult to operate and caused some malfunctions. In 1844, leather straps wereadded to the rotating metal circles for better stability. The straps helped keep the gun in place while being worn around the waist or shoulder. This design remained popular until 1911 when an improved design was developed which incorporated a geared wheel and American Eagle breast eagle logo on the side of the holster. This new holster Design allowed for more accurate rotation and prevented it from slipping out of your hand while you were using it.

On the morning of November 14, 1892, a group of gunmen stormed and took control of the Colorado State Capitol in Westminster. The gunmen were part of a secret society called the Black Hounds, which waschartered by Sheriff John Lawson to fight crime in the town. The Black Hounds had been active for years before this event and were known for their deadly firearms. They quickly took over all aspects of government, including law enforcement. The siege lasted for two days and ended with the surrender of all but six of the gunmen.

Westminster is a city in Pueblo County, Colorado, United States. The population was 10,007 at the 2010 census. Westminster has been the capital of Pueblo County since 1907 and has been the seat of government for all of Pueblo County since 1861. The first Europeans to visit what is now Westminster were Spanish traders from San Juan Bautista on July 28, 1541. On October 3, 1846, John Wesley Powell led an exploration party that became the first American team to travel up the Arkansas River. In 1871, when Colorado attained statehood andbecame a U.S. state, Westminster became its new capital and remained so until 1907 when it moved to Denver. The city's history can be traced back to 1850 when pioneer James Fenton built his sawmill on South State Street in what is now downtown Westminster. Soon after Fenton opened his mill, other entrepreneurs established businesses in town including Wm Henson Hardware Company (founded by William Henson), A&W Brewery (founded by Asa Whitney), J Hutton & Son Ferryboat Line (owned by John Houston), and Ewing Mercantile Company (owned by Elijah Elliott). In 1859-60 Joshua Bates constructed a waterworks system which served as both power source for townspeople’s homes and sewerage for many miles around; this system remains one of London’s most important early public works projects. When Fort Laramie was founded in 1863 supplies began arriving regularly from western Kansas through Norton’s stagecoach LINE company route - passengers could disembark at Laramie then continue their journey east overland via Preston Pass or walk into eastern Wyoming Territory before reaching Fort Laramie on September 1st 1865; however due to political wrangling within Colorado Springs over claims to territory taken from Cheyenne & Arapaho Indians during the Gadsden Purchase campaign of1861-62 - despite numerous offers from Fortress Laramie commanders – Westminster remained without a permanent resident population until 1870 when 9 Congregational missionaries arrived with instructions “to establish themselves among us as soon as possible” On November 11th 1860 David Sayers purchased two lots adjacent to junction of 6th St./Pike Ave., northwest corner thereof being lot no bids 2 $10 per acre; lot 4 $20 per acre was also purchased…. These Lots are situated upon 1/2 mile square piece of ground bounded northerly by First St./Pike avenues NorthEast corner thereof meeting Jackson St./Avenue Road Northeast corner thence easterly along said avenueRoad Northwest corner unto boundary line between Pueblo Co./Denver City Limits & Haskell Co./Laramie Town Limits The site chosen for future settlement being largely level open land lying between East 1st Avenue Northeast corner First Street/Pike Avenue West endpoint thereof bounds SOUTHwesterly 1/2 mile wide extending Extended Northerly 2 blocks long breadth extendeth 3 blocks long depth . It will be noted that these original purchase boundaries did not include present day portions of University District…."." David Sayers acquired these lands approximately one month afterUSD Selectman George Freeland donated land near central business district east side south side alley west side alley between Washington Streets east end alley Just south side opposite Trinity Church free land property obtained December 12th 1860….. This donation consisted mostly of timberlands adjoining Indian Creek which had recently been surveyed and blockaded off…….. In January 1861 Sayers laid out streets gridiron plan starting at intersection with Pike road running NE then NW then straight across NW onto First street following alignment currently followed today….. Streets named according to this plan North Main Street West Broadway street SouthMain Street East Second avenue streets… One notable exception was northwest Corner alignment blockaded off By Indian Creek Timberlands……………. Streets main arteries remain today alignment traceable north Main street west Broadway street south Main street east Second avenue streets although names have changed
