In 1940, after World War II ended there were large-scale military installations being built all around northern Colorado including Fort Carson within miles of Westminster; these activities led to heavy residential development in downtown Streetsboro which largely displaced older agricultural communities east of I-25

Westminster, Colorado is a small town in Jackson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 753 at the 2010 census. Westminster was founded in 1879 by American pioneers, and became an incorporated municipality in 1915. It is located on the western edge of the Rocky Mountains and is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Westminster began as a small settlement on the east side of what is now called Cherry Creek Road. On November 6, 1879, five pioneer families from eastern New York arrived in wagon trains at Clearwater Ranch near present-day Westminster to establish a new homestead for themselves and their animals on land that would later be known as Westminster Ranch. The first settler was Isaac Nixon. In 1880, James Hagan purchased 3 Sections 10 and 11 of Westminster Ranch from Nixon for $5 per acre ($40 to $140 today). In 1881, John Aitken came to Westminster with his family from Liverpool Township in Erie County, Pennsylvania and opened a general store there which became one of the most successful businesses in town. He served as mayor from 1895 until 1898 when he resigned because of term limits set by then-Mayor George Wickersham (D). In 1915, when Boulder City was organized as a city withinDenver County (later renamed Denver), both municipalities were annexed into it. At its incorporation into Denver County, Westminster had a population of just over 100 people; however its retail water filtration plant soon became one of the largest employers in town with an annual payroll totaling almost $1 million dollars during its peak years between 1927 and 1933! The post office closed down in 1965 but has been open ever since through various name changes including: The Post Office Department (1927–1968), The Western mail carrier (1968–1975), AndesMail/Colorado Springs Branch (1975–present).
Westminster, Colorado was founded in 1907 by lumber baron George H. Smith and his wife, Belle. The city is named for the manor house that was the first to be built there. The Smiths donated land to the town for a courthouse and school district, and added an additional acre for a municipal park in 1912. The town grew steadily during the 1920s and 1930s as carpenters, teachers, farmers, and other businesses moved into the area. In the 1940s, Westminster began to experience rapid growth due to its proximity to new military bases in southern Colorado Springs and Fort Carson; this boom ended abruptly in the early 1950s when Denver assumed control of Central Colorado Regional Airport.
