That year also saw the construction of a railroadshed which still stands today across from Westminster High School east of Hwy 12/State Rd 76/Mesa County Rd 626/N 27th Ave (the original alignment). On November 5, 1920 a fire destroyed most of downtown Westminster when an uncontrolled small fire burned for hours at an ammunition store next to Patton's Drug Store on Main Street. No one was injured but much damage resulted including $5000 worth of property damage On January 17, 1951 two teenage girls walking home from playing video games were abducted by four people driving a black Buick 4X4 while they walked down Pennsylvania Avenue just east of I-25 near Downingtown Road NW corner just before midnight FM 928 (now US HWY 24), this abduction remains unsolved to this day and has been called one of America's Most Unsolved Crimes
