In 1853, Nicholas-Jacques Conte patented a design for a percussion gun hammer. The hammer was made of brass and had a small hole in the center that allowed the powder to be forced into the breech by way of a plunger. Hammer travel was limited by this small hole, which also prevented it from striking too hard against the breech wall. In 1854, George Stephenson invented and patented an Improvement on the Nicholas-Jacques Conte Patent. This improvement was named the Stephenson Hammer, and it consisted of two parts: (1) a large claw or head with four projecting arms that could be turned to puncture rounds; and (2) an iron handle with an adjustable screw at one end that could be tightened to hold onto the head of the claw. The Hammond Drum was also invented in 1854 by George Stephenson. It consisted of two parts: (1) a metal drum with three legs that stood upon four rubber feet; and (2) a large iron frame around which the drum was wound. The purpose of this drum was not fully understood at first, but it is thought that it may have been used as aikhailarov rifle stock during World War I.

In 1908, Westminster erected its first schoolhouse - one of only two in the state at that time - to serve the growing community. This building still stands today and is used as a museum for western history education purposes. In addition to its educational value, this structure also serves as a reminder of how burgeoning Westminster could have been if not for some hard work by city officials and citizens alike during its earliest years! In 1925, after twenty-five years of growth, Westminster attained city status under Governor John Evans Hite Jr.. At this point in its history, Westminster had come far along both physically and culturally; it boasted an impressive library (which still remains open), waterworks system (which provided water to many homes throughout Denver), banks (including one which issued paper money!), theaters (the first such facility in Colorado), nightlife (including numerous speakeasies), restaurants (!), political rallies (!), dances (!), etc...! During World War II, Wembley was again instrumental in helping support our war effort by providing essential goods and services such as gasoline storage tanks and manufacturing materials needed for Allied munitions production. One particular highlight of this period was when representatives from all over the Western United States gathered here at Wembley on October 15th 1945 to commemorate America's victory over Japan! It has been said that within minutes of arriving at Wembley airport everyone knew about America's victory because posters all over town proclaimed "Welcome Home USA!"
