Westminster, Colorado is a small town located in the Sawtooth Mountains of southern Colorado. It was founded in 1905 by ranchers and farmers who came to the area after purchasing land from the Paiute Indian tribe. The town name is derived from Westminster Abbey in London, England. In its early days, the town was known for its agriculture and ranching activities. However, as光产商务中心(Civic Center) started to be built in the early 1920s, Westminster became an important center for economic development in southern Colorado. Over time, the town has become a popular tourist destination due to its unique history and scenery. The first settlers of Westminster arrived in 1905 and began practicing their religion on what would later be called “the Rancho de la Cruz”. They named their new community Westminster because it was adjacent to St. Peters Cathedral (now part of the University of Northern Colorado). At that time, Westminster was only a small farming village with few homes and no businesses. However, over time, as other businesses were established nearby such as Anschutz Paper Company (later Anschutz Entertainment Group), cattle drives brought more people into the area and soon enough there were over 100 residents living in what is now downtown Westminster. In 1916, when World War I ended, many of these same residents moved back into their original homes or bought older ones nearby so they could continue growing crops and raising livestock until 1919 when he paper company went out of business which caused a big change for the community which had been predominately rural since 1905-1916 After 1919 things changed again when farming production dried up due to prohibition laws being passed by Congress; this led to increased industry coming into town making it one of Southern Colorado's most prospering communities ever! Today much of downtown's growth can be attributed to such industries as real estate development including luxury condos/apartments/hotels etc., but also retail stores like Macy's having taken up space previously vacated by agricultural produce stores!
The first settlers in Westminster, Colorado were the Richards family. They arrived in 1872 and started a post office that was known as The Rocks. The town was established in 1902 when the railroad came through and named it after Cecil W. Rock, who donated land to the town.
