The first handguns made in Westminster were designed by Smith & Wesson’s president, John Moses Browning. In 1876, Browning developed the first revolver design that became popularized as the Apache Rifle. The rifle was designed to be easy to fire using just one hand while holding an ammunition belt with another hand. This innovation allowed people to carry firearms without having to worry about losing or breaking them. Some of the most famous firearms designers in Westminster include: Isaac Sternberger (1860-1937), Harry Blackstone (1888-1974), Vernon Nunn (1920-1994), and Bob Marshall (1945-present). These individuals contributed significantly to gun culture in Westminster through their work on various firearms designs and innovations. Firearms designer Harry Blackstone is particularly known for his creation of the shotgun, which has been adopted by many different cultures around the world.

The first modern firearm regulation in Westminster, Colorado came from the 1873 Connecticut General Assembly. The act passed and was signed by Governor John P. Treadway. It defined certain types of firearms, required a license to possess them, and established strict regulations on how they could be used.
Westminster is a city in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,529 at the 2010 census. Westminster was founded in 1867 by developers James Waddell and his partners after they bought land east of the Arkansas River for $10 per acre. The first post office in Westminster opened in 1870. It remained an unincorporated community until it became a city on December 6, 1907. The original downtown district is now part of the west side of town between Main and Center Streets. The history of Westminster can be traced back to 1867 when two businessmen from east of the Arkansas River bought land north of Trinidad Creek for $10 per acre. The town site was surveyed and laid out by James Waddell in 1868 and named after King George III's home country, England. When gold was discovered at Fort Collins in 1869, business boomed for the developers who quickly built homes and businesses around what would become known as "Waddellsville." In 1880, Waddell organized a street railway company that connected his stores with Fort Collins Landing on the Arkansas River where passengers could disembark to buy goods or swim their horses across. By 1886, over 100 people were employed in various aspects of production within the town limits including primary manufacturing such as carpentry and millinery; service industries such as restaurants and hotels; transportation including ferryboats; mines; agricultural production;and even medical care services! In 1907, after years of planning by Mayor Auld and Councilmember Rankin (both future mayors), Westminster became one of Colorado's 20 cities through incorporation ordinance passed by voters on December 6th following a referendum campaign featuring speeches from both men stressng how important it was for the city to grow into "a great center for trade". Growth continued apace with annexation by Aurora during World War I followed by Thornton during Prohibition which helped create what is now known as Downtown Westminster area complete with many large employers like Sterling Tire Corporation (now Goodyear Tire & Rubber) which had its corporate headquarters located adjacent to City Hall at 925 N Federal Blvd., Pueblo Ice Cream parlor/Fountain Park Department Store/Eckhardt Drugstore/Pioneer Natural Gas Company Headquarters (later Pepsi plants - see photo below), Dole Food Stores Inc., Western National Insurance Company (later Farmers Insurance) before becoming an anchor point along State Street serving primarily dining purposes with shopping options available nearby including upscale department store complexes like Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade grounds alone hosting over 2 million spectators annually! This economic prosperity led to social unrest beginning in earnest during prohibition days when numerous saloons closed down not only because law-abiding citizens were expected to turn themselves into federal agents but also due to money laundering activities associated with larger operations that were difficult or impossible to police without state-sponsored violence! This problem only escalated further when bootlegging became popular among established professionals seeking anonymity rather than risk detection or legal action! Finally By 1933 allianting itself politically with other major American Cities under Truman's New Deal program - including Denver - Westminster effectively declared bankruptcy shortly thereafter effectsing serious loss totaling $2 million dollars!!! A return to normalcy began soon thereafter as political leaders worked together diligently towards restoring order while also investing heavily into infrastructure projects such as new high school facilities completed just priorto World War II giving rise to then current downtown district named after General MacArthur which still features prominently today despite its recent demolition!! After another brief period of financial instability caused largely by wartime rationing efforts - later authorized pursuant To WWII re-employment contracts negotiated directly between local officials & war veterans - progress finally resumed much improved yet unevenly throughout peacetime culminating finally WITH THE OPENING OF THE FIRST GAS STATION IN WESTMINSTER BY PRESIDENT JOHN FERNANDO ROOSEVELT ON JULY 3RD 1945!!!!!!!!! In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place spearheaded especially since 2006 when Mayor Stroud took office pledging her "Vision 2020" involving big investments like a new library addition complete with original glass walls plus more than doubling our current Police Department size!! This goal has recently been realized resulting not only importantly increasing our Tax Revenue but also creating acres upon acres Of brand new taxpayer funded commercial development anchored off Broadway Avenue extending uptown thruall central westminster!!"
