While handguns remained generally single-shot weapons until well into the 20th century, handgun hammering began appearing on shotguns in 1903 with what would eventually be renamed revolver hammering (to differentiate it from rifle/pistol hammering). Shotguns continue to be primarily used today for hunting purposes but revolverhammering has started being utilized in self-defense applications as well where larger calibers are desired (.454 Casull vs 9mm Luger), higher rates of fire are desired (fast follow up shots), or greater accuracy is desired (longer range).

In 1886, when Census data showed that Thornton's population had reached 20 inhabitants (down from 25 nine years earlier), Act 7 of 1886 created Thornton Township which included most of what now makes up Thornton Village and portions of Arapaho Village east of Railroad tracks near intersection with Main Street. In 1893, when act 9 amended county boundaries creating Larimer County (northwest corner including Greeley), all but 1/4 mile of present-day Thorntonton Road were within Larimer County limits subject only to township government within township limitations; this tract includes much of what now makes up grid street layout within village boundaries today . . On December 12th 1898 during a special meeting held at local hotel due to protest against coal mine lease offer made by Consolidated Coal Company Inc., $2 gold pieces were offered as pledges for incorporation into new town formed out of protest

Hammer technology continued to spread throughout Europe during the 19th century, and eventually it was adopted by Japanese forces during World War II for their Type 0 “Jinja” Machine Guns. The hammer has since become an integral part of many firearms around the world, and has even been used in some police officers’ carry weapon options (such as service revolvers)

Thornton is a small town in Gunnison County, Colorado, United States. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. Thornton is part of the Grand Junction metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Thornton was John Smedley, who arrived in 1879 and built the first store and homestead on the present day site of Thornton. In 1881, he married Eliza Jane Henshaw and moved to what is now east side of town. The following year, Smedley erected a schoolhouse on what is now Main Street. That same year, he also platted what became east side of town from land grant that he had received from President James K. Polk for his services during the Mexican–American War years earlier. In 1885, another pioneer named David Jarvis founded an insurance agency in Thornton which became one of the largest in Colorado until it disbanded in 1911. In 1896, Averill Harriman donated land to build a high school which served as a central hub for education and commerce in western Gunnison County until it closed its doors more than 20 years later. One of Harriman's sons, Franklin D., purchased that land and built the current high school complex thereon in 1961-1962 from funds raised by his father's failed business venture into energy production; this endeavor led to him becoming one of America's most prominent entrepreneurs during his time as Governor (1979-1981) of Colorado Springs-Boulder County
Thornton, Colorado was once a small mining town located in the eastern part of the Rocky Mountains. The community was founded in 1868 byodus brothers John and David Thornton. The town thrived for a time, but when silver began to flow from the mines in nearby Denver, Thornton became a victim. The town declined rapidly and ceased to exist within two years.
