By 1954, however, the population had decreased again and incorporation requests were made for Park Meadows and Thornton again merged into one town in order to keep them both under the same administration. Although it has been suggested that Webb City may have been intended as an annex to Thornton due to its proximity to Webb City Airport (now known as Greenwood Village Airport), no definitive proof exists connecting these two townships geographically or politically. A plaque located in front of Webb City Hall commemorates this event.
