In 1886, William Jennings Bryan became Ulysses S Grant’s running mate for President and he visited Superior on his campaign trail before coming to office in 1889. In 1920, my ancestor John Wesley Hardin settled here with his family from Arkansas after being forced out of their farm near Little Rock by Native Americans during the American Civil War and subsequent Reconstruction era. He ranched here until his death in 1951; later that year he bequeathed this land along I-25 to the government for use as part of newly created Animas Basin National Monument which now includes much of what was once called 'Superior'. It wasn't until a few years ago when someone decided they wanted to fix up some old buildings on this property into an old fashioned community that we started getting some interest from people looking for a place where they could live without all the modern amenities like electricity or water supply etc... We are slowly but surely making progress towards becoming our own self-sufficient community again! The town has two churches: First Baptist Church & Presbyterian Church both established in 1870s while also having schools - North Central High School formed in 1949 while South Central High School opened its doors on October 6th 1957 - these schools have since been closed down but maintain some historical artifacts on site including football helmets worn during Sidney Rice's famous victory over Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback Norm Van Brocklin* current coach at North Central High School Chuck Woolery starred as an assistant coach at Southcentral HS under then head coach Rick Majerus(* former General Manager/NFL scout)
