Soon, Superior had become one of the most important communities in western Colorado. The town rapidly grew due to its rich resources and its location close to major mines and railroads. In 1889 Superior became an incorporated town; this was shortly after railway construction began nearby. By 1903 Superior had attained its current size – it boasted over 1,000 residents at its peak! Despite this growth however, Prosperity declined during World War II because silver miningactivity decreased throughout much of WesternColorado as prices went up for supplies shipped from China! today Superiors status as a small but vibrant community hangs on thanks largely to its strong economy which include both manufacturing and agriculture
