The committee's report was released in March 1999 and called for developing an environmental strategy that would include reducing traffic congestion, creating green spaces such as gardens or playgrounds near schools, investing in renewable energy sources such as solar power or wind turbines, promoting local food production and encouraging transportation options such as bicycling or walking instead of driving
