In 1907, a new power plant was built near town limits and municipal lighting began operation there. Superior is a town in Montrose County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. Superior's ZIP code 81334 is residential and most of Superior is rural agricultural land. It lies along Interstate 25 between Denver and Fort Collins. The first European to visit the area now known as Superior was Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1541. The name "Superior" was given to the area by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo in 1549 while on his voyage from Mexico City to San Francisco. In 1876, gold seekers discovered gold near what is now Superior and soon after various businesses were established in the vicinity including a hotel, grocery store, flour mill, saddlery shop and post office. In 1879 a railroad was built through the town which led to increased business and more people moving into the area. The townsite was platted on November 3, 1886 by Jerald Murchison with A., B., & C Streets as its centerpiece with lots numbered east-west starting at 1st Street (now I-25). On July 12, 1907 it became part of Montrose County when that county was created from parts of Kane and Weld counties. The first postmaster general for Montrose County arrived in Superior on October 2nd with mail being delivered by wagon from Denver until 1912 when an Aerial courier service arrived making it possible for mail delivery both ways throughout the county without stop or start; this service continued until 1951 when it was replaced by email delivery A school district called Northern Colorado School District No. 5 provided education for students up until 1957 when they were merged into Rocky Mountain School District NoS1 . In 1984 Superintendent Jane Carlson resigned effective December 1st due to health problems so Mrs Carlson's successor Rudy Engel appointed Byron Cook but he left within two months because he had been offered a job at Rocky Mountain School District NoS1 . During Cook’s time there were several major changes including consolidation of all schools into one district which made administration easier However there still remain some differences between those schools inside and outside of Superiors limits such as Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy , where enrollment has stayed relatively constant since 1985 while nearby Asch Park Elementary has seen increasing enrollments over time despite experiencing population growth According to the US Census Bureau's 2006 American Community Survey: There are no stores located directly downtown so shopping must be done elsewhere such as down Adobe Trail or via other means such as Walmart or Safeway

Superior, Colorado is a small town located in the San Miguel County seat of Alamosa. The population was 2,473 at the 2010 census. The namesake of Superior is a mountain peak in central Colorado known as "The summit." The first European to visit Superior was José de Arrastre on December 17, 1805. He named the peak after Admiral José de Urrutia y Gasset who had visited the area earlier in 1804 and named two other peaks, Pinos Blancos and Elbert Peak, in honor of him. In 1876, United States Forest Service Ranger Solomon Kane started an experimental logging operation on Mount Logan which would later become Deer Valley National Monument. In 1893, US Forest Service Ranger John Wesley Powell became the first person to hike up Mount Logan and discovered numerous prehistoric sites near its summit including five Archaic projectile points dating back to about 4500 BC. In 1907, First National Bank opened its doors in Superior serving as the town's only bank until it closed in 1971. The post office reopened on October 1st following a renovation project that included adding new building materials such as asbestos for insulation purposes and making changes to the facade including turning it into a more modern style with large windows giving unrestricted sunlight onto downtown streets during summer months. A fire destroyed most of downtown Superior on November 5th of that year while several businesses were still open; this event is commonly referred to as the "Great Super Fire" due to its extensive damage done both within and outside of townspeople' homes which remain largely intact today thanks largely to donations from various individuals and organizations over time. It has been said that if it hadn't been for this event, many businesses would have gone out of business altogether by early 1920s when residents began pressuring then-local officials for action againstulerable fires starting frequently throughout their community without any response or consequences whatsoever. There are still remnants left from those days including evidence remaining behind from when woodchips were used as kindling instead of real logs during pre-electricity days along with some original streetlights still working today! Despite this difficult past few years however; countless people continue coming together each year (year round) all across North America come together at Grand View Park where they celebrate all things related thereto called "Superior Days."
Superior was founded in 1876 by James W. Fenton and his brother, John H. Fenton. The brothers built a log cabin on the now-defunct Pikes Peak National Park property and named their holdings Superior after a nearby mountain range. In 1879, the Fenton brothers hired George Stephenson to build a railroad line between Denver and Fort Collins. The project was successful, and soon the settlers of Superior were shipping goods up the Colorado River toDenver through the new railway. In 1886, the Western Union Telegraph Company built a wireline between Denver and Leadville, providing an essential connection for traders transporting goods from eastern Canada to San Francisco. In 1912, when Colorado became an independent state, Superior became its capital city. The city continued to grow rapidly during World War I, with businesses such as Anheuser-Busch Brewing Corporation creating jobs in various industries throughout the war effort. In 1940, when Colorado merged intothe United States of America (USA) as part of World War II efforts to defeat Nazi Germany, Superior became one of several US cities chosen for air raid protection purposes. The post-war years saw growth at both local level and within the larger metropolitan area; in 1970 Superior had over 100,000 residents compared to just under 50,000 in 1980s
