Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a small town in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado. It straddles the border of Wyoming and Colorado. The population was 7,362 at the 2010 census. The first European to see Steamboat Springs was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524 when he charted what is now known as the lower Poudre River valley from his ship, La Dolfin. A fortification called Fort Augustus was built in 1776 by George Armstrong Custer during the Indian Wars to protect steamboats travelling through that area on their way up the river to Denver. The first steamship to call at Steamboat Springs was the "SS Keystone" in 1879. At that time it took two days for goods brought downriver by wagon or stagecoach to reach Denver; now it takes only about an hour and twenty minutes by train or bus. In 1892, John Denny founded Jardine newspapers here and started another industry - mining saltpeter from local mountains. His company became one of America's leading providers of this essential commodity until 1919 when World War I destroyed much of Europe's production capability for saltpeter so mines closed all over North America. In 1907, Steamboat Springs became home to one of America's earliest amusement parks - The Park Theatre Company with its three buildings on Main Street between Sixth and Seventh Streets (now part of The University Mall). After years of decline due primarily to weather conditions which made attendance impossible year-round except during major events such as fairs or carnivals, Park Theatre Corporation went out of business in 1951 but left a lasting legacy with its displays inside The Park Theatre building still showing occasional films today (except May 1st-October 1st)

Steamboat Springs is a city in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. The population was 14,593 at the 2010 census. The name derives from the natural hot springsknown as the "Steamboat Spring". The original settlement in what is now Steamboat Springs was founded by Jacob Riis and his family in 1876. They built a log cabin on the north side of Big Creek. In 1881, they started trading Post #1 and soon developed into an important community for local farmers and ranchers. In 1902, the town incorporated and began to grow rapidly due to its location near two active volcanoes: Mount Eldorado (16 miles away) and Mount Stromberg (14 miles away). In 1916, steamboats arrived at Steamboat Springs from all over America for the Denver-Colorado World's Fair. That year saw an unprecedented level of development with businesses opening up such as hotels, restaurants, stores and a movie theater. As more people moved into town, water became scarce so industries switched to oil production in the 1940s. However, since then there has been steady growth with several new businesses popping up including technology companies such as Apple Inc., Google LLC., Facebook Inc., Uber Technologies SRL andInstagram Holdings Lp.. Today it continues to be one of the most vibrant cities in Southern Colorado with popular attractions like Mtn Dew Brewery & Cider Garden; Aspen Music Festival; Elks Lodge; Banff Mountain Resort - Topo Chico National Park; Steamboat Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau; Itaipú Falls State Park.; Keystone Lakefront Resort.; John Deere Farmer's Market.; Pikes Peak Brewing Company;; Dravon Hills Golf Course.-Today there are also multiple conventions being held here each year including CES 2019 which will bring together some of North America’s largest tech companies etc...
