The history of firearms in Pueblo, Colorado dates back to the early 1800s. The first guns were used by the Native Americans to hunt game. In 1868, Captain John H. Hill brought a rifle and pistols to Pueblo from Fort Robinson, Kansas. He started a gun shop in the town and began selling rifles and handguns to civilians. By 1879, Hill had become one of the most successful gun dealers in Colorado. In 1892, George Fenton opened a store in downtown Pueblo that became known as Fenton’s Firearms & Ammunition Store. This store was also the first location in Colorado where people could buy ammunition for firearms. In 1898, Colonel Phil Sheridan arrived in Pueblo with his army and requested that residents arm themselves against possible Apache attack. The colonel ordered Fenton to start selling guns to civilians. From then on, gun sales increased significantly in Pueblo. In 1907, Colonel Wesley Witherspoon founded Camp Grant which served as a training ground for American troops during World War I. Because of this activity, many weapons were acquired by soldiers during the war including cannons and rifles dating back to the 1800s! In 1665 AD a law was passed in England which made all civilians caught wearingGU's liable for imprisonment or execution under law if found guilty by courts-martial (a proceeding where officers make decisions about punishment). However, GU's continued being worn by soldiers throughout much of Britain until 1881 when regulation changed allowing only men over 21 years old access to fire arms without prior registration with local police forces
