In the early 1800s, Parker was a small town in southern Colorado. It was a place where white men hunted buffalo, erected log cabins, and built mosques. But it also had a thriving industry that produced scopes. The local optics company was founded by three gentlemen named Isaac Parker, George Mason, and John Dunlap. They designed andproduced the first successful telescope in 1827. The company became very successful and continued to produce new telescopes through the nineteenth century. Parker's optical industry played an important role in helping to develop the field of astronomy. By producing high-quality scopes, these gentlemen helped to advance research into many different subjects such as astrophysics and astronomy. In addition, their products were often used by astronomers for studying phenomena such as eclipses and cometary tails. The industry sadly died out in the twentieth century but its legacy can be seen today in many forms of astronomical equipment all over the world. Parker is a town in Chaffee County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction metropolitan area. Parker was founded in 1872 by settlers from Illinois and named after General Zachary Taylor. The first post office in Parker was established in 1875. The first store opened in 1878. In 1886, the town had a school and two churches. In 1910, Parker had a sawmill and a gristmill. The last store closed its doors in 1978. A park was built on the former site of the mill to serve as a recreation center for residents of nearby Grand Junction and other surrounding towns during the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 2006, Parker became home to one of America's first wind farms when FirstEnergy installed an $ American Wind Energy Center near its downtown business district

In 1924, Zeiss Introduced its 1/4-inch objective lens in order to compete with other companies such as Browning and Savage. 1930 saw the introduction of a new type of telescope designed specifically for aerial photography by Ritchey & Chisholm. 1938 saw the first successful launch of an American satellite by United States Aircraft Corporation with an Ritchey & Chisholm 4-meter refractor telescope mounted aboard an Boeing 707 airliner. 1949 marked the beginning of World War II when Nazi Germany invaded Europe and began World War II by invading Czechoslovakia. 1945 saw Japan surrender after years of war and occupation. 1946 saw America enter World War II again when it entered into conflict with China over Manchuria. 1951 marked the first time that a solar eclipse was seen from Earth while it was still part of the Soviet Union; this event is also known as the Sino-Soviet Eclipse since it involved both China and Russia at different times during their respective empires). 1957 seesthe opening of Israel’s Kibbutzim as well as Telescope Industries Limited (TIL) which produces aperture reflectors for astronomical purposes including amateur telescopes
Parker, Colorado is a small town in the San Juan Mountains of Southern Colorado. It was first settled in 1876 by westerners who were looking for new land to homestead. The population grew quickly and by 1907, Parker had a post office, grocery store, and several hotels. The town was named after Union General John A. Parker who fought at Gettysburg in 1864. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Parker became known as a place where timber money could be made from the tall trees that lined the local streams. In 1905, one of the most famous phenomena in parkland history took place when an intense fire burned for days near Interstate 25 just outside of town. The fire destroyed over 20 miles of forests and created what is now one of the largest stand of timber on the continent. Many businesses sprang up around this time including a bank, lumber company, movie theater, auto dealership, and doctor’s office all located within walking distance of each other. During World War II (1939-1945), Parker saw some amazing changes take place as it became one of the main supply points for troops coming into battle on both sides of the war. One such change was that Parker began to experience an influx of refugees from Boulder County which had become predominately white during wartime hysteria caused by fears about Japanese espionage activities throughout America
The Parker family first settled in the area in 1876. The town of Parker was organized in 1888, and growth led to the incorporation of a city in 1907. In 1916, the population of Parker reached 5,000 residents. The city boundaries were changed to define a new borough in 1941, and it became an incorporated village in 1951. On July 1, 1998, Parker merged with Telluride to form one municipality.
