In 1908, the Parker family bought a piece of land near the town of Parker in eastern Colorado. They named their property Parker Ranch and it still stands today. The ranch was used for farming, grazing and sheep herding until 1915 when they built a distillery on the property. The Distillery Company of America was founded in 1915 and started producing whisky under the name Deer Lodge. In 1923, they changed the name to Pulte Corporation and continued production until 1971.

The Parker community was established in 1875 by Mormon settlers on land that now includes the town and its surrounding rural areas. In 1966, Parkers first high school opened when Fort Lewis High School closed in Aurora due to budget cuts caused by state reallocation of dollars from education programs statewide. The new school became one of four high schools operated by Aurora-based East Central District Schools Inc., which was merged into Denver-based Arapahoe Independent School District (AISD) in 1997. Parkers annexation by AISD increased its population from 2,500 residents to 6,000 residents within 10 years due largely to Eastern Colorado growth brought on by job opportunities created during AISD's affiliation with Denver Public Schools (DPL). After years of planning and coordination between Aurora-based DPS and local officials in Parkers annexation it was announced that CPS would close ECDHS' Cherry Creek Elementary School effective September 1st 2006 as part of their austerity plans across all districts affecting First Nations childrenserving students K through 8th grade along with other CPS schools located east or west of Cherry Creek along I-25 between Thornton and Golden Eagle Roads were also going closures this year causing some dismay among parents as many had been looking forward to seeing their children have additional educational options open up for them outside of CPS control
