They patented their invention of the rifle scope in 1895. In 1898, they started selling the scope through mail order to customers in England and other parts of Europe. In 1902, they opened a store on East Colfax Avenue in Denver and continued to sell through mail order until 1907 when they switched to an authorized dealer program with AmericanScope Incorporated. AmericanScope became the largest retailer of riflescopes in the world until it was acquired by Bushnell Corporation in 1967.
Parker, Colorado is a town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. Parker is located on the north side of the Park Range and west of Aspen. It is part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Parker were Native Americans who hunted and trapped in the area for food and shelter. In 1868, John D. Rockefeller founded Standard Oil Company in Parker with his brothers Charles and John D.' Rockefeller Jr.. One of Rockefeller's sons, Nelson A., also founded Rocky Mountain Broadcasting Corporation (RMBC) which aired western programming from its studios on Main Street in Parker from 1951-1974. In 1964, rmbc moved into its current facility on McGee Drive near Interstate 25 east of Aspen. In 1907, Arapaho Indian Chief Black Hawk formally designated what are now North Park Boulevard and South Park Boulevard as "Indian Territory" within present day Parkrange Township - land that would later become known as Parker Township (.pdf) - recognizing then-unincorporated portions of Weld County that lay withinekerok Renegade band reservation boundaries as well as parts of Glenwood Springs (later Glenwood), Evergreen (later Alpine), Thornton (later Thornton Village), Rifle Valley ( later Rifle Heights), Nederland (later Nederville) & Canon City east of White Sands Missile Range extending all the way to Green River Junction (& including Florence Canyon). The tribe also reserved certain tracts further to the south/northwest defined by Powderhorn Creek & Potter Creek & any tracts lying between these two creek boundaries On September 20th 1870, Samuel Hahnemann patented an improvements to an earlier claim he had made to Phelps Dodge Corporation about twelve miles northeastward along I-25 just south ofpresent day State Highway 24 near Aspen; this became known as "Parker Ranch." On December 5th 1871 USGS Topo map #4 shows additional lands added contiguous withHahnemann's original patent: these included present day North Park Boulevard and South Park Boulevard plus all Lots 10 through 16 in present day Westpark Township . Prior thereto there had been only parcels numbered 21 thru 24 . Upon patenting these lands Hahnemann named them after his three daughters: Elsie(born October 12th 1872), Alice(born February 15th 1875) & Mayetta(born March 14th 1880). Parker, Colorado is a small town in Park County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction metropolitan area. The Town of Parker was platted in 1876 and named after John A. Parker, president of the First National Bank in Denver. The first post office in Parker was established in 1881 and namedafter J.A. Parkinson who donated land to the town for a school district and parkland. In 1907, the name changed to Parkersburg when it became apparent that there was only one business in town - The Parkersburger Hotel which still stands today on Main Street accolading its nearly 100 years of service as a hotel and restaurant specializing chiefly in American-ized Chinese food since 1907! In 1955-1956, Parker hosted the Western Hemisphere Expo which brought together nations from Canada to Mexico City with an attendance of over one million people! This event helped promote tourism within Park County as well as neighboring counties that participate nationally every summer during theExpo season!
In 1876, Parker was named after Major General George A. Parker, commander of the Union army in the Western Theater during the Mexican-American War. The town was founded on a ranch that had been given to John Wetherbee by his father. Wetherbee developed the land into a small farming community and opened a store in 1879. In 1886, Wetherbee donated $5,000 to create the first post office in Colorado. The townspeople built their first school in 1889 and started trading with other towns in the region. By 1893, Parker had a population of about fifty people and was functioning as an agricultural center with some local industry. A fire destroyed most of the buildings in 1903, but 2002 saw reconstruction that increased its popularity as a tourist destination. In 2006, Parker became one of only two towns in Colorado to be designated by the state as an official tourism area
