It consisted of eight rounds of ammunition. In 1895, a new model of rifle and pistol magazine was created which featured ten rounds per magazine. This model became known as the "Parker Rifle" magazine. In 1903, Parker introduced the first self-loading rifle in the world with its design patented by him. The rifle had a revolving barrel that allowed for 10 rounds to be stored inside the magazine itself.

In recent years, Parker has seen significant redevelopment as a result of new suburban development near by; however, much of the old central business district remains intact as a historic landmark and attraction for tourists and residents alike. In 1870s there were only about 20 people living hereabouts with just 3 or 4 buildings including two log cabins which still stand today! Parker, Colorado is a small town located in western Colorado. The name Parker was given to the community by the Smith family who ranched there for many years. In 1876, John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company in Logan County and named the new town after his brother-in-law, William H. Parker. The first post office in Parker opened on December 15, 1880. The population of Parker grew steadily until it peaked at over 1,500 residents in 1912 when a fire destroyed most of the buildings and businesses in the community. After that point, growth slowed as people turned their attention to other pursuits such as agriculture or mining. However, some residents did not forget about their early days and continue to visit and stay in the community until recently. Today, much of what was once part of Parker has been lost to time but portions of it still remain including two churches (one brick and one stone) a cemetery (complete with headstones dating back to 1892), a schoolhouse ( built 1902), an old hardware store (now used as a apartments), and several homes which were once used as stores or residences. Overall, this small town offers plenty of evidence that during its heyday,Parker had significant economic activity and importance within its region
In 1880, the town of Parker was founded by John F. Parker and James L. Young. The town was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who died in 1876 during the Ulysses S. Grant Wars in India. The first school in what is now Parker was built in 1881 and the first post office opened in 1885. In 1907, the School District No. 1 was created and Parkers village became a part of it.
