Northglenn, Colorado is a small town in the San Miguel County seat of east-central Colorado. The population was 7,402 at the 2010 census. It is home to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Military Park and has a rich history of military and law enforcement activity. The first firearms in Northglenn were muskets brought over by Mormon pioneers in 1847. In 1868, the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad moved its main depot into what is now downtown Northglenn. This event marked the beginning of a period of growth for Northglenn as an industrial center; northbound trains would stop at the depot to pick up materials for their locomotives and cars. In 1903, gunfire erupted during a dispute between local farmers and cowboys over grazing rights on land that would later become Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Military Park (later Fort Lyon). A group of men from Jameson, Gunnison, Pueblo, and other nearby towns formed a posse to take on the gunmen and managed to drive them off the property. This victory helped solidify Colorado’s reputation as one of America’s most gun-happy states. Since World War II, much HASC ammunition has been produced here at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Military Park (now Fort Lyon). This ammunition includes both official U.S., NATO/Erdogan standard rounds as well as custom rounds created specifically for HASC use by various American forces around the world since 1945 including: Africa Team; Commander Europe Training Squadron; Canadian Forces Expeditionary Unit Support Force; United States Army 9th Infantry Division “Alaska Column”; Republic of Korea Army 2nd Infantry Regiment; Argentine Air Force Bomber Wing No 1); Yugoslavian Air Force Fighter Wing No 6) among others…Today NORTHGLENN still plays host to many governmental agencies (FBI Hostage Rescue Team); commercial entities such as Unocal Pipeline Company which manufactures crude oil storage tanks hereabouts for processingRefinery gas Storage tank used by Encana Corporation service station located just east side I-25 exit ramp next to Hwy 191 about 3 miles south of NGFZ

Northglenn is a small, rural town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Northglenn is located on the south side of the Animas River and has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²). The first residents of what would become Northglenn were people who moved from Telluride during the Gold Rush in 1859. They were farmers and ranchers who raised livestock and grew crops. By 1870, most of the original settlers had died from disease or accident while working their land; however, some families continued to live there until 1907 when they all relocated to Craig County. In 1907, an act was passed by the state legislature which created Weld County and assigned it to north-central Weld County including much of present-day Northglenn. The only change made to Northglenn's zoning map was that it became a "residential district." This provided for single family homes as well as businesses within its boundaries so that people could get together for social events such as dances and picnics without having to go far away. During World War II, Northglenn served as a military airfield used by American forces in support of the war effort in Europe. The town also hosted Allied soldiers living with their families during this time period before being evacuated in 1945 following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. There have been few changes to Northglenn since its founding; however, over time it has undergone gentrification which has led to increased crime rates and a decrease in its resident population over recent years
Northglenn was founded in 1849 by the families of General John C. Fremont and his wife, Margaret Hance. The town was named after Northumbria, England, where the Fremont family had been born. The first store in the town opened in 1850. Northglenn became a principal settlement of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad in 1872, and rapid growth followed as agricultural production increased along with industry. In 1907, Northglenn was incorporated as a city. It experienced significant economic decline during the Great Depression, but regained some traction following World War II and the creation of new jobs in defense industries.
