Northglenn is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Northglenn is located on US Highway 6 east of Fort Collins and north of Grand Junction. It is bordered by the towns of Arvada to the south, Aspen to the west, Steamboat Springs to the northeast, and Pueblo to the north. The name "Northglenn" originated from an early settler's choice of a name for what would become Fort Collins. At that time it was known as "Hollow Hills". Northglenn once had a post office called Arvada but this ceased operations in 1880 because of postal changes in America at that time. Prior to annexation by Fort Collins in 1912, Northglenn was part of Carbondale Township which was organized in 1875 and included all present-day Weld County except for Carbondale which became its own municipality after that year's incorporation. Carbondale Township took its name from Carbondale (now Niwot) Creek which flows through it from east to west. Northwest corner of township seat including present day North Glendale are now within City limits In 1895 there were two businesses left open along Main Street - one operated by J & W Hutton who had opened a grocery store on 2nd Avenue northwest then later moved down the street into what is now Union Station; and another business operated by A & M Sprague which soldered copper wire on Main Street between First and Second Avenues northwest corner near current day University Boulevard After Ft Collins annexed much of eastern Weld County in 1912 most residents chose not to move or join their new municipality despite having no quarrel with Ft Collins jurisdiction When asked about their decision during an interview many said they simply could not afford or wouldn't want to move when they realized how much bigger Ft Collins became than they'd ever imagined They did however acquiesce when Ft Collins offered them annexation rights for just $1 per capita

Northglenn was founded in 1902 by Horace Greeley and other early settlers. The community soon became a ranching and farming center, with a population of about 150 people in 1911. Northglenn experienced some growth during World War I, when the region became an artillery ammunition depot. The post-World War II years were relatively peaceful for Northglenn. The community increased its population again during the late 1960s through immigration from Mexico and Canada.
