In 1865, he purchased land east of town to build a new rifle factory. The Chivington Rifle Factory was located on County Road 12 and became known as the Northglenn Rifle Factory. In 1868, gun manufacturer Samuel Colt began producing revolvers in Northglenn. In 1869, Colt founded the Colorado Arms Company to produce firearms in Northglenn and other communities near Denver. The company produced pistols and rifles until it merged with George Peake’s English armory in 1887. In 1903, Ladd & Co., manufacturers of shotguns, founded a shotgun business at 9th Avenue and Eastern Boulevard in Northglenn after purchasing the Chivington Rifle Factory from John Chivington’s son-in-law, Charles Haddock. From 1903 to 1907, Ladd &Co.'s Shotgun Plant was located at 615 S Colorado Blvd., which is now part of Rocky View Mall . On July 1st 1907, Andrew Mann bought the remaining interest in Colt's British armory from George Peake for $1 million dollars (the sale included about one third of all pistol production). Mann renamed his company "American Arms Corporation" with sales operations being based out of Loveland from 1908 until 1942 when they relocated back to Denver . During World War II their plants production stopped completely due to government regulations governing arms production
Northglenn is a census-designated place in Arapaho County, Colorado, United States. The population was 592 at the 2010 census. Northglenn is part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Northglenn is located on U.S. Highway 287 and State Highway 24 north of Interstate 25 and east of Montrose Boulevard. The town began as an agricultural community in 1861 when a group of settlers from Illinois arrived to purchase land west of the Arkansas River. The first post office was established in 1862 and named Northglenn after Captain John North, who had come through that area with the Army during the American Civil War. By 1876, over 100 residents were living in what would become Northglenn; by 1910, its population had reached 614. In 1908, local resident Wm Hargrave donated land for a Carnegie library which opened in 1912; this became one of Colorado's first public libraries and remains one of the town's most popular attractions today. It was also during this time thatnorthglenn incorporated as a municipality; it did not join any other municipalities within Arapaho County until 1956 when it annexed Montrose Boulevard from Park City to become its own municipality boundaries). As agriculture increased around town, so too did housing development: by 1960, there were 1,500 homes in town compared to only 350 homes ten years earlier! Today nearly all areas within town are occupied by residences: although small amounts of commercial space remains throughouttown center (and along Independence Avenue), most businesses have closed or relocated since 2000 due to rapid growth within Aurora/Denver/Montrose Cities area combined! Northglenn, Colorado is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Northglenn is located on the north side of the Animas River and is bordered by the towns of Estes Park to the east and Asotin to the west. Northglenn has a humid subtropical climate with warm summers and cold winters. The area that now makes up Northglenn was first settled by people who arrived in 1859 from Illinois. The community was named after George Ladd who had come to Colorado in 1848 as part of the Denver-Aurora Mail Route. Ladd's rancho was located near present-day Northglen Boulevard and he gave his name to what would become Northglenn. In 1870, Chauncey Wertheim bought land northwest of present-day Northglen from Ladd and founded Wertheim City which included much of today's northeast quadrant of town. By 1880, there were over 20 businesses in town including four banks, two grocery stores, two hotels, three sawmills/grinders shops (the only one still operating), six churches (including one serving as a theological school), ten schools (grades K-12), sevenivery stables and twenty-four farmsteads. In 1896 Alice Henson donated land off Alamosa Creek near present day Town Lake for use as an agricultural colony known as "Henson Ranch." This early settlement employed 150 people outgrowing their original stockpile that consisted only of potatoes, beans and cornmeal while also establishing relationships with other farmers in Weld County through Farmers' Alliance meetings attended by government officials from Larimer County on occasion when goods needed for Cache Valley were unavailable locally or too expensive to be brought downriver. By 1907 there were 400 residents living on 1 square mile (0.6 km²)2 under Henson Ranch conditions with 10 miles (16 km) of paved road access and 300 acres (120 ha) cultivated with 82 homes/acres (.28/.68). The Lever Brothers Coal Mine opened in 1903 providing coal for local electric power plants until it closed in 1957 due to competition from new mines such as Anaconda Copper Mines Near Ouray which began production nearby in 1906 using open pits dating back to 1881 when Fort Collinsite mining began along the Animas River valley floor about 12 miles upstream from where today's Northglenn stands perched atop an ancient mountainside quarry used for producing greenstone since before recorded time! With more than 100 years experience this operation left many legacy scars including tailings dams which still remain throughout much lower Nighthill Canyon below Alamosa Reservoir forming a major waterbody ideal habitat for trout beginning its journey upriver into our larger Atchison Basin spawning ground! Today this landscape provides excellent fishing potential especially during rapid renovation seasons when bottom feeders are common like current year's steelhead fry we photographed just downstream at Lahontan DamLake Lodge angling Site #8! A few feet beyond where these fish swim you can see remnant spoil piles created by earlier mine days including five large ponds measuring seventy feet diameter each edge measuring nearly thirty feet deep!) These waters provide world class fishing habitat for Rainbow Trout making this spot one worth your time if hunting Rocky Mountain Brook Trout instead but please respect private property rights!!!

The area now known as Northglenn was first settled by farmers in the late 1790s, and it wasn't until 1854 that entrepreneur John D. Rockefeller founded his own oil refinery in nearby Golden. By 1870, Northglenn had become a thriving agricultural town with over 120 residents. In 1876, Northglenn became one of the first towns in Colorado to get its own school district. The town's growth continued through the years, and by 1912 it had reached its current size with a population of over 1,500 people. In 1916, Northglenn became part of the newly formed Colorado Springs metropolitan area and has remained an important local center ever since.
