In 1922, when Interstate 25 was built through southern Boulder County (then comprising much of what is today Longmont), Longmont became an important interchange point for motorists travelling north then south across Glenwood Canyon into Adams County; this made LONGMONT an even more important center for commerce during those years! In 1957 – long after most people had left town – The Aspen Times published an editorial entitled "The Importance of Old-Fashioned Values In A Town like This." The writer called upon residents to keep their traditions alive by hosting summertime dances at their homes instead of going out onto Andes Road where "the beer Joints are open all night" - adding that these traditional events should not be discouraged simply because they were no longer popular among young people these days! By 1970, though many businesses had closed down or been replaced by newer ones over time – such as Burger King – many citizens still lived within walking distance of almost everything they needed or wanted including library services which began operations in 1941! Additionally, there continued to be plenty of employment opportunities throughout numerous businesses both big and small due largely to high quality jobsgenerated by its location within easy reach both nationally AND internationally!!!
