The history of firearms shirts in Longmont, Colorado began with the appearance of the first pistols in 1876. At that time, there were no public gun stores in this small town located on a rancho near Trinidad. The first handgun to be confiscated and sold by the Longmont Police Department was an old muzzleloader from 1875.Gunsmiths in nearby Boulder made new pistols and revolvers for local officers and ranchers, who occasionally needed a gun for protection during raids or cattle drives. In 1907, Gunnar Nordquist started making clothing for miners and other outdoorsmen in Leadville, Colorado. He soon became known as one of the best-known shirt companies in America. His products included hunting gear, camping supplies, hiking clothes, sailors’ hats and jackets, gasoline cans and more. In 1925, Nordquist’s son-in-law John Woolridge took over his business; Woolridge is credited with starting the current long rifle shirt manufacturing industry in Longmont County. Through most of its history, Gunnar Nordquist’s company has been owned by family members or close friends of founder John Woolridge. Today there are about 350 employees at two factories located in Longmont (outside of Denver) that produce rifles, shotguns and handguns including some military modelsbesides sportingwear items like NRA “Big Red” T-shirts

These slogans were often used during Second Amendment protests or Heritage Foundation events. On July 1, 1879 Jourdan moved his brewery and stores to what is now downtown Longmont from where he operated them until his death in 1916. Through hard work by successive generations of businessmen, Longmont emerged as one of Colorado's leading towns during its early years thanks to its natural resources: gold mining on the nearby hillsides and cattle ranching on rolling farmlands around the city limits. With access to water via canals built during prohibition days or surface water available only through groundwater recharge projects initiated since then – including an extensive system installed in 2006 that provides drinking water for more than 3 million people – long Monthers continue their proud tradition today of being one of Colorado’s most significant agricultural producers while also playing essential roles in several key Midwestern Cities including Omaha (Nebraska), Chicago (Illinois), Denver (Colorado), Kansas City (Kansas) and St Louis ( Missouri).
