Littleton is a city in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 12,951 at the 2010 census. Littleton is the county seat of Jefferson County. It is bordered by Aspen to the north and east, Aurora to the west and south, and Golden to the southwest. The town of Littleton was platted in 1892 by John Waddell as a location for a new post office. The name "Littleton" originated from its location on Big Hill outside of Denver. A post office called "Broomfield" was established in 1894, but it failed to take off and was closed that year. In 1893, Waddell developed what would become known as West Littleton into an agricultural center with dairy, hog farms, and other businesses. In 1896, Arthur Ashe became the first person to win all six majors in golf at one time when he finished second behind William Horschel at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Golf Links near Oxfordshire in England. After serving as president of PGA Tour Champions (now Nationwide Tour), Ashe moved his medical practice from Orangeville to Littleton full-time in 1935 so he could continue playing professional golf while continuing education at Yale University School of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 1938. He died there on November 15th, 1992 after winning two major tournaments that year – the British Open Championship and The Masters Tournament – which made him only 14 years old when he made those definitive statements about golfing immortality that have since been repeated over & over again throughout history! In 1924–1925 Simpson built Littleton's first high school building which now houses City Hall/City Library; this building also served as home court during Olympic teams’ tryouts for their respective sports events until 2002 when they moved into their current facility located adjacent to City Hall/City Library across Main Street from First National Bank Arena; incidentally this original school building remained standing until it caught fire on February 6th 2019 causing extensive damage due largely to arson; fortunately no students were inside or within reach when it went up in flames! The present day city of Littleton takes its name from John Waddell who laid out its boundaries around Big Hill outside of Denver on March 3rd 1892 following approval by voters via an election held two days later sans any drama or protestations by local politicians!

Littleton, Colorado is a town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 9,391 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Littleton was founded in 1876 by George Washington Carver and named after his wife's birthplace in rural Georgia. In 1924, Littleton became one of the original towns in the new city of Denver. Littleton is situated on a small hill overlooking downtown Denver and most of Aurora University campus to its north and east. Neighboring counties include Douglas and Arapahoe to the north and east, Castle Rock to the south and west, Clear Creek to the northwest, and Parker County to the southwest. The nearby mountain ranges are visible from various parts of town including Main Street between 4th Avenue S/A (the business district) and I-25 (the main highway). The southeast corner of town contains an area drained by Clear Creek called "The Meadows" which used to be home to many cattle operations as well as some small homes for people who raised livestock until about 1990 when much land was donated for development around what is now South Broadway Elementary School complex known locally as "The Greeneacre". Most Littleton residents are descendants of pioneers who settled here during or shortly after Kansas City finished building up its municipal boundaries around 1871: Charles Goodyear settled near present day North Park Boulevard; John Atherston arrived December 7th1872 with his family on a wagon train from Independence Township westward; Sylvester Morse followed January 1st1873; Josephine Morse September 25th1877; Lewis Haney November 3rd1879; Abraham Lincoln Dodge October 15th1881 [these settlers moved into what is now Greenwood Village]; Fenton Young February 10th 1883 arrived with his family on horseback from Weldon Township northeastward; James Conecuh May 5th 1886 arrival on horseback from Gardena Township northeastward along with several other families soon thereafter... Most early arrivals were men but soon women began arriving too as families increased their holdings following land sales throughout Platte Creek Valley... By 1890 there were over 100 families living here scattered among 13 settlements within 6 miles [of Littleton]... When Aurora incorporated as a city in 1924 it decided that allocating streets name based upon ancestor's place OF birth would not be practical so they named them according to current locations within city limits instead."

Littleton was founded in 1864 by Levi Lincoln and others as a small farming community on the east bank of the Arkansas River. In 1870, it became an incorporated town and remained so until 1959 when it went through a name change to Littleton–Aurora.
