The next year saw another move when the association acquired the building at 2nd and Market Streets which served as their new magazine office until 1961 when they replaced it with their current building on Broadway Avenue. In 1898, Littleton became one of the first places in Colorado to have electric service. The town's first tower was erected along Main Street just east of present-day State Avenue (now I-25). In 1907, Litton Foods began production of pet food here and remains a major generator of economic activity today. During World War II, Littleton served as an important military base for Boeing Aircraft Company during the war years; later it also produced munitions for other companies throughout the war years until closing its plant permanently in 1990 due to low sales rates and increased competition from elsewhere in Weld County. Today Littleton has a strong community spirit with many businesses that contribute to local economy such as KFC/Walgreens and Subway sandwich shops which are open late into the night every day serving up delicious pizza!
