Lakewood, Colorado is a city in Lake County, Colorado, United States. The population was 10,044 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Lakewood" was given to the community by General George Armstrong Custer on July 3, 1887 while he and his men were camped near the current site of town. At first it was called "Custer's Crossing," but because of objections from some residents who thought the name dishonored their father's military achievement it was changed to Lakewood later that year. The first post office in town was established in 1892. The current Post Office Building property became part of the town limits on May 12th 1960. In 1902 an act passed by Congress granted plenary authority to create a waterworks system for Larimer County and within one year $5,000 had been raised to finance construction of this system which began on October 1st 1903 under the leadership of Mayor John Fenton and Water Works Superintendent J H Howe. By 1907 almost all residents were using public tap water with only a few private wells left open for irrigation purposes. In 1913–1914 an addition to the original dam & powerhouse complex authorized construction of a second power plant (the present day First National Bank Tower) as well as new streets and sidewalks which today make up most of downtown Lakewood’s commercial district; these improvements made possible rapid growth in what became known as “Lakewood Village” during its early years before annexed by City Limits in 1951 motel development replaced most residential growth during World War II when much industry moved out westward into newly developed suburbs like Aurora or Commerce City following openings up river Frontage Road opposite where I-25 now resides; however downtown core retains many downtown commercial buildings dating back over 100 years including both old First National Bank building completed in 1914 (now tower #1), Masonic Temple built circa 1909 on lot NW corner 5th Ave & S Broadway (now south side alley between east high school & west skyway), Riggs Drug Store opened circa 1920 adjacent NW corner 4th Ave & S Broadway also occupied by Pueblo Mercantile Company until 1938 when it closed due to Depression-era prohibition laws; GAFI store opens soon thereafter across SW corner 4th Ave from Masonic Temple (& former Pueblo Mercantile Company address) – all properties mentioned herein still extant subject to occasional lease/purchase/development pursuant to present zoning ordinances adopted subsequent thereto - [text continues below] In 1947 Everson Aircraft manufacturing company moves from Longmont into former Armour Ammunition factory building now used as convention center after purchase by then city limits mayor Harry Wolkowski followed by similar purchases by other local governments since then making Lakewood one of largest cities in Colorado with over half a million citizens – [text continues above] On November 6th 1959 voters approved bond issue creating new municipal boundaries increasing population from 10K residentals to 20Kresidentals with compensation for older incorporated towns etc., becoming effective on January 1st 1960 . Development since then has included not only annexation or rezoningof various parcels withinCity Limits along I-25 boundary line but also numerous additions/widening/alterations directly or indirectly related thereto including: alteration/amendments resultingfrom merged operations with Aspen City Limits adjoining east side street grid formed through mergers therewith durinng several decades prior primarily due thereto involving reclamation activities associated with Anschutz Entertainment Group golf course expansion project comingled wi

The Colt Pistol Shirt was created to commemorate one of the first gunfights in American history (the Battle of Little Big Horn), which took place on July 6, 1876. This event is often referred to as "The Texas Revolution". The shirt depicted a rifleman carrying a shield with the inscription “Colt’s Rangers” emblazoned across it. This firearm shirt became an iconic symbol of America's military heritage and helped promote firearms education and tourism in states such as Texas.
