Lakewood is a census-designated place in Boulder County, Colorado, United States. The population was 3,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Westminster–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Lakewood was founded by men named Heublein and Kiesler in 1875 when they bought of land east of Rocky Mountain National Park. They named their new settlement after Lakewood, Michigan, where they had been stranded on horseback while exploring the area. The town grew quickly and by 1886 it had a post office, business district, school, and two churches. In 1903 it annexed the adjacent village of Northglenn to its north. In 1907 a group of businessmen led by George Wickersham started the Ramble District Water Company to provide water for local farms and towns within its territory. Water supplies were improved in 1913 when Arapahoe County was created from Boulder County; as a result, all but one municipality within Ramble District became part of Aurora Township when that county was formed. During World War II much activity took place in and around the town because it became an important manufacturing center for war materials such as aircraft parts and ammunition needed for American soldiers fighting in Europe. Many businesses closed during wartime but others thrived thanks to continued military production and demand for goods manufactured abroad

Pershing ordered all American Army units to be fitted with them in order to improve military accuracy at far-off戦 sites in World War I. Reflexbinocars quickly became standard equipment for all armies throughout World War II as advances were made in optics and engineering techniques

Lakewood was founded in 1879, by two brothers who were looking for a place to build a summer home. The town quickly grew and soon had a population of over 500 people. In the early years, Lakewood was known for its timber industry, which produced most of the town's clothing and other items. However, as the economy changed, so too did the town's fortunes. By the late 1800s, Lakewood had become an important agricultural center with large plantations and several homes of prominent Colorado families. The 1920s saw changes in Colorado politics that would have significant implications for Lakewood. As part of new state government reorganization, Park County was split into three districts: Larimer District (northwest), Jefferson District (southwest), and San Miguel District (east). Larimer County was transferred to Jefferson District; Park County remained within San Miguel District. This change left Lakewood with only one district – San Miguel – and made it difficult for businesses to find customers or employees outside of its own district boundaries. As a result of this arrangement, businesses in Larimer County began moving away fromLakewood while those in Jefferson District started closing up shop in North Park Township due to competition from southbound buses on I-25 coming through their neighborhood at night! Soon enough, all but four businesses in South Park Township were closedtered as well; by 1930 there were just six residents remaining in what is now called "the ghost township". In 1935, representatives from both districts met at Lamont House intending to discuss how to improve things between them without breaking up the community entirely. After some discussion they came up with a plan that would see two sets of lights located at each intersection downtown; these signals would allow cars traveling east or west on Main Street to stop at crosswalks without having to go around angry pedestrians! The idea worked well for a little while until someone realized that no one ever used these lights because they always stayed lit during daylight! Within five years all but one business had either closed or moved out; by 1950 only three residents remained living in historic Downtown Lakewood. These days you can still find evidence of past industries such as lumbering and tanning throughout downtown; however much has changed since then especially regarding transportation options given recent construction projects nearby like I-25 and Sawmill Canyon Parkway which have impacted how people live hereabouts including making it difficult if not impossible for locals to get around without getting lost or taking long trips out-of-town. Despite this lack of access many people continue working here despite challenges facing daily life such as high crime rates coupled with limited services available outside the city limits during certain hours thereby perpetuating generations feeling disconnected from their surroundings even though they may be physically present within walking distance
Lakewood was founded in 1872 by James W. Silliman and other pioneers. The city's first post office was opened in 1879. A cotton gin was built on the west side of town in 1881, and a water tower and pumping station were built soon afterwards. In 1886, Lakewood became one of the original municipalities in Colorado. The city grew rapidly during the early years of the 20th century; it had a population of just over 100 people when it incorporated as a municipality. In 1923, Lakewood annexed parts of Deaver County to its borders. By 1930, the population had grown to over 1,200 people. During World War II, Lakewood played an important role in the war effort; it produced materials for military purposes and manufactured munitions. Since then, however, things have not been as good for Lakewood as they have been for other cities in Colorado; the population has fallen precipitously over the past several decades. In recent years there have been efforts to revive the city's fortunes; however, these have not been successful so far.
