In 1842 Captain John Browning sold his interest in Browns Ferry Road to James Hardie who renamed it Cherry Creek Boulevard NW after himself; Hardies heirs continued to run it until 1957 when it was sold by private enterprise to Stantec Corporation for $2 million (). The first post office opened at Cherry Creek Boulevard NW on July 15, 1888 (). That year also saw incorporation of Douglas County with its first residents: Augustus Crippen (), Wm Hite (), Hiram Street () and Lorenzo Gassaway () were elected as members from unincorporated parts of Douglas County that fall within modern-day Aurora Township on August 4th(). This process continued with elections every few years through 1897 when county seat moved from Manitou Springs to Lakewood due largely because there were more people living within easy reach of both cities than there were citizens living anywhere else outside those urban areas! The last election before moving happened was 1906 when Hiram Street ran for sheriff but lost narrowly against incumbent Samuel Morse (). On November 3rd 1905 voters approved an amendment creating Aurora Township which included all or part of what are now Broomfield Township, Northglenn Township, Aspen Heights Township and Desert Hills Village! This amendment increasedriver traffic through those villages so much that they petitioned Denver City Council asking them not only to annex their village but also provide water rights so their village could thrive despite lack thereof!
