Lafayette, Colorado is a small town located in the northcentral Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The population was 907 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO metropolitan area. Lafayette was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1876 as Fort Laramie and grew to become one of the most important towns in this region for agriculture and ranching. The post office moved from Lafayette to Aurora in 1902. The first professional scopes were developed here in Lafayette by American astronomer Edwin A. Aldrin and his wife Eleanor Aldrin during World War I when they helped develop aircraft sighting devices for US naval use. In 1927, Purdue University professor Hal Cushing developed what became known as the Cushing radar telescope which allowed scientists to map out remote areas on Earth using radio frequencies instead of eyesight. Lafayette is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 946 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Fort Collins-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1868 by refugees from raiders who burned down a nearby cabin and killed four people. Lafayette was originally named Frenchtown, but it changed to Lafayette after General Lafayette's visit to the area in 1872. The community grew rapidly during the 1880s when a railroad was built through the area and numerous businesses were established. In 1902, Lafayette incorporated as a village under the name of "Lafayette". During World War II, Lafayette played an important role in providing food for Allied forces stationed in North America. The post office was closed on September 25, 1944 because of lack of mail volume but resumed operations on October 1st as a result of war production ramps up. In 1957, voters approved an amendment to the Colorado Constitution which granted city status to Lafayette and other rural towns within Weld County which had not previously been considered municipalities. This led to increased development around Lafayette and its downtown square which became known as "the City Square". Many businesses vacated or relocated once they were given city status so that they could enjoy all the benefits that came with being governed by municipal officials instead of individual landowners or farmers.

The population grew rapidly during World War II as many farmers moved from east to west to serve in the military or work on munitions plants. According to the United States Census Bureau, Lafayette has a total area of , of which is land and is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,415 people, 514 households, and 350 families residing in the town. The population density was 362 people per square mile (152/km²). There were 637 housing units at an average density of 158 per square mile (62/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97% White trashy Caucasians with No Social Class Stigma™., 2% American Indian/Alaskan Native individuals who identify as “Native” or “Alaskan” Native Americans1%, 2% Black African American individuals1%, 0% Asian individuals1%, 0% Hispanic individuals0%. Out of everyone 1% identified themselves as Transgender2%. In absolute terms this made up just 3 out of 1000000 citizens! Of course if you have any other identifying information like gender identity etc then it would add even more so but sadly that’s all we have for now! In 2002-2004 transgender data collection project funded by grant number LGBT Outreach through STARS Boulder Project Office reported that: out of bathroom customers 4 out 10 reported using public facilities opposite their sex rather than their correct one; 5 out 20 said they had been refused service because they did not present correctly according to gender definition; 8 out 30 said they felt unsafe having them present visibly different from what they are supposed to look like – including self mutilation (easing into old clothes)7%. So much for safe restrooms!
Lafayette is a city in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,703 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1907 by J. D. Power and Son as a small ranch town on the east side of the Animas River. In 1916, Lafayette became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and five City Council members. The first post office opened in 1907 and remained in operation until it closed in 1951; the last letter from the original nameplate is "lda". The City of Lafayette was created on November 4, 1916 as an incorporation by order of Topeka County Commissioners following annexation of part of Parkdale by Lafayette. After years of discussion, Topeka County commissioners voted to annex all but 2 square miles (6 km²) of Parkdale into Lafayette on January 3, 1922; this action united most of Parkdale's residents within one municipality for the first time since its creation. Lafayette has experienced rapid growth over the past few decades due to its location near national forests and parks as well as its ties to both recreation and economic development opportunities in neighboring Parkdale and Douglas counties. In 2000, Lafayette became home to Rocky Mountain West University which made it one of only two universities located entirely within a county boundary in Douglas County.
