Gun targets have been a part of the history of Lafayette, Colorado for over a hundred years. The first targets were made in 1892 by George P. Smith and Company and continued to be made until 1951. At that time, the company merged with another company and all guns produced from then on were called "Pendleton" guns. In 1951, the name was changed back to "George P. Smith & Son". The targets originally consisted of metal sheets that could be painted or stenciled with designs. They were hung from poles in public areas such as parks or streets near schools. From the late 1800s through to the mid-1900s there was a large demand for gun targets because they provided entertainment for people of all ages. Gun target shooters would come from all over to use these weapons in competitions and other events throughout the area. In 1954, George P. Smith & Sons merged with H&R Arms Corporation and production stopped altogether until 1972 when it was restarted under new ownership - this time being run by H&R Firearms Manufacturing Incorporated (HFM). This company produces replica firearms which are now popular among collectors around the world due to their unique design features and historical significance. Today, there is still a large demand for gun target products because people enjoy using them as an activity inside or outside their homes. Not only do these objects provide opportunities for children and adults to shoot at moving objects, but they can also be used as training tools for those who wish to become better shotters.

On November 14, 1859, the first gunbattle in the War of 1859 took place at the Battle of Elkhorn Ridge near Lafayette. The battle was fought between West Point cadets and local militia forces. The cadet force had traveled to Lafayette to participate in a military parade before engaging in combat against militia units. As part of their drill routine, the cadets fired into the air to simulate gunfire. A local militiaman responded by firing his pistols at point-blank range into the air, raising alarms among nearby civilians. In response to this unexpected display of violence, Cadet General William Wirt ordered all members of his unit to stop fire immediately. After consulting with other commanders on the scene, it was decided that further engagement would not be possible and both sides withdrew from the field.
Lafayette is a small town in Montrose County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boulder–Aurora–Denver Metropolitan Area. Lafayette was founded in 1872 and incorporated as a village in 1907. In the late 1960s, Lafayette began to experience growth due to its location within easy commuting distance of major metropolitan areas such as Denver and Boulder. The development of what is now known as Boulevard Street led to increased traffic and parking congestion on Main Street and other local streets which caused numerous problems for residents including increased noise levels, poor hygiene, and limited access to public services. In response to these problems, the Village Council began an effort in 2006 to create a comprehensive plan for Lafayette which would improve access to education, infrastructure, commercial corridors, and transportation options. The goal of this project was To provide residents with an updated understanding of their community's strengths and weaknesses so that they can take action steps that will improve their quality of life while reducing traffic congestion on Boulevard Street

The popularity of target shooting began to grow in the early 1900s, as pistols became more popular. In 1907, the National Rifle Association (NRA) was founded, and began promotingtarget shooting as a practice that could be enjoyed by all. Target shooters across the United States quickly started to develop their own techniques and equipment, leading to World War I where targets were used extensively in battle. After the war, target shooting continued to grow in popularity throughout America. In 1947, the NRA created a special committee to develop guidelines for target Shooting at outdoor ranges across America. These guidelines are still followed today, and are responsible for helping keep American gun owners safe from injury when practicing their sport.
The first rifles were designed and built in the 17th century. They were single shot pistols with a muzzleloader or smoothbore cannon as their ammunition. In the 18th century, firearms started to be designed for mounted troops and cannons became more common. Cavalry require a firearm that can be fired from a distance, which is where handguns come into play. In the 19th century, new types of rifles and shotguns began to become popularized as hunting weapons, which led to further development of handguns as rifle-based sporting firearms.
Lafayette, Colorado is a small town located in the Sawmill Mountains of southern Colorado. The population was 1,569 at the 2000 census. Lafayette is named after Lafayette, France. The original settlement was called "Lafayette" and "Colorado". It was platted in 1881 by General James W. Carleton as part of a larger ranching area that included Telluride and Pueblo. In 1892, Lafayette became an incorporated town when Denver annexed it from Telluride. The town newspaper, the Lafayette Tribune, was first published in 1898. The early years of the town were difficult due to competition from nearby towns such as Golden and Aspen for development space on the strategic highlands around Telluride Mountain. However, with the arrival of railroads in 1907 and 1908, development accelerated and by 1914 Lafayette had a grocery store and 10 businesses including 4 banks - all post offices at that time - two newspapers (the Lafayette Tribune & The Keystone Daily News), three churches (one Methodist) and several residences including a hotel which has been preserved as part of downtown Lafayette today. In 1916 construction began on what is now downtown Lafayette following an agreement between then-Mayor Alfred Ladd and prominent local contractor George Stephenson IV who offered to build what would become one of America's most important municipal buildings - City Hall - for only $10 per square foot. It would be until 1990 when demolition began to move City Hall from its original site on First Avenue south across Second Street into what is now Front Street parking lot before finally moving it into its current location on Third Avenue east just past Main Street which connects Downtown with University Park North because that's where City Hall currently stands! During World War I Lafayette served as headquarters for General John J Pershing's 3rd Infantry Division during its campaigns along the Western Front; later it housed various army pioneer detachments such as Headquarters Company A detachment commanded by Captain Harry S Hilltop (later Commanding Officer US Cavalry Regiment 5th Cavalry Brigade). In 1923 Mayor Henson approved plans by banker Augustus Fenton to raze all but 2 blocks of downtown streetscape – including Main Street – replace them with expensive boulevards designed by architect Alfred Ely Stiles in order to create new business districts anchored by elegant department stores280 seats wide each facing Tenth Avenue NW corner First Ave NE corner Allston Ave SE corner while also building 400 additional dwellings mostly single family homes; this plan failed but brought much criticism from citizens who saw their neighborhoods destroyed while they were left without any protection or assistance should anything happen to their beloved downtown! Believe it or not but these days you can still visit some old brick row houses near Tenth Ave NW corner First Ave NE corner Allston Ave SE Corner complete WITH GAS SToves inside if you are feeling adventurous given today's economic conditions! Just don't tell anyone about it though because they might think you're cheating...or maybe even trying to get away with something! Anyway back to our story ... once again things changed when WWI ended so instead of returning home there were many new immigrants coming overland through Mexico looking for work opportunities so Mayor Henson started hearings startin 1933 discussin how we could provide more housing for these people since everyone else seemed too busy building dams and bridges! After hearing lotsa opinions he came upwiththis ideawhichwouldbecomeLawrence Neighborhood Plan: every residentofLawrencewastohaveone voteonall matters concerning THEIR neighborhood although there werstill alotofargumentsoverhowmuchpower eachresidenthad! This ledtomanydevelopments like Prudential Building west End main street southwest being built next door TOCityHall alittle further down then originally planned BUT prudence knew better thanTo Build UP!! TodayPrudentialBuildingstandsasOneofthedmost eminentobilesupporting Lawrencevillegeandthesuchareastreetpropertyinthecity! Elaborate gardens surround both sides OFitwelcomingPublic accessTOitfrombothFirstAveNEandTenthAveNW CornerFirstAveNE CornerAllstonAVESE CornerwhilealsoprovidingsupervisedparkingFORALLRESIDENTS!!!
