In Lafayette, Colorado there is a history of firearms that goes back to the 1800s. The first firearms in Lafayette were shotguns and handguns. Theseguns were used for hunting and personal protection. In 1881, the city of Lafayette passed an ordinance that allowed firearms to be kept on city property. This ordinance was repealed in 1892. The next year, the City of Lafayette amended their ordinance to allow guns at public parks. This amendment was also repealed in 1902 because it did not meet with the approval of the City Council. In 1907, a new ordinance was passed by the City Council which allowed handguns to be possessed by citizens “for use in self-defense or other lawful purposes”. This amendment also met with disapproval from the Mayor because he felt that handguns should only be used for law enforcement purposes and not for civilian use. In 1911, a new ordinance was passed by the City Council which banned handguns from being possessed on city property altogether. This amendment also met with disapproval from Mayor Dillon because he felt that handgun possession should only be prohibited for law enforcement purposes and not for civilians. The final regulation surrounding firearms in Lafayette came in 1914 when it was decided that all pistols must have triggers removed so they could not be fired without permission from a supervisor (This rule changed later). The regulation also stated that rifles must have stocks and barrels less than eighteen inches long and shotguns must have stocks and barrels more than twelve inches long (These rules still apply today). The last prohibition against handguns came about due to concerns about violence potential within the community after several shootings occurring within two months of each other outside of local gun stores (One shooting resulted in one death). After much conversation between Mayor Dillon, Police Chief McDermott, Gun Owners Committee member John Barnesonand others involved with this issue, itwas decided that any person who wanted to own or possess a handgun had to complete an application process known as “The Pistol Program”which consisted of fingerprinting/photo identification verification & payment of $5 per month(This program still exists today)). 1) From 1881-1892; Shotguns & revolvers were used primarily for hunting 2) 1903 ordinances change allowing handguns on public property 3) 1907 amendment allows handguns w/o triggers 4) 1911 amendments ban handgun possession on public property 5) 1914regulation removes triggers 6) 1916 reverts to shotgun regulations 7) 1921 bans pistols 8) 1923 repeal pistol regulations 9) 1924 prohibits owning or possessing Firearms

Lafayette is a small town located in the mountain west of Denver, Colorado. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,828. The name Lafayette comes from Lafayette County, Louisiana. American Revolutionary War General and hero George Washington was born here on November 15th 1739. In 1881, Lafayette had a population of 2,052 when it became one of Denver's original incorporated towns. More recently, many businesses have moved out to replace them as the town shrunk in size while its center grew rapidly with new development surrounding it. Today Lafayette is known for its wide variety of shops and restaurants as well as its friendly atmosphere that welcomes everyone who walks through its doors. The first settlers to this area were farmers who arrived around 1800 after traveling down the Arkansas River from Kansas City. A post office called Lafayette was established in 1825 and remained in operation until 1903. The community took its name from General George Washington’s birthplace which lies just north of town on Ute Mountain overlooking downtown Denver. After Adams wrote his Report on Indian Affairs recommending Removal throughout Colorado Territory in 1834-35, some people began to move into this area and started what would become known as “the white migration” towards western Colorado specifically to find land free from Native Americans or their restrictions on hunting and trading resources with them. These pioneers would continue to arrive over time until they reached an all-time high during the late 19th century when over 60% of the population reported being European-born or descendant thereof according to US Census data housed at Ancestry DNA website In spite of these early arrivals there were still only a few families living here when Fort Laramie was founded by Colonel James Haggard near present day Parkmeralda Avenue and Grant Street in July 1855 primarily due to concerns about hostile Apache forces roaming nearby areas during the Mexican–American War that had been raging since 1846 Eager for access to what was then thinly populated country west ofDenverHagard set up camp adjacent to Laramie Creek opposite present day Alpine Lakeside Elementary School before introducing artillery fire onto Palo Alto Hills allowing him complete control over situ

From 1892 until 1896, these shirts were printed at their factory in Rochester, New York. The Rifleman Company was founded by John Broughton and his brother-in-law Samuel Colt. After repeating fire trials with revolvers in 1892, John Broughton decided to start producing Firearms T-Shirts in order to promote responsible handgun ownership among Americans. This company would survive into the 21st century before being bought out by another company in 2000

Fowler as a post office called Dalhart; it changed its name to Lafayette on February 17, 1886. Lafayette is located at (39.901922, -103.568664). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 419 people, 133 households, and 108 families residing in the town. The population density was 917.3 people per square mile (351.1/km²). There were 154 housing units at an average density of 399.2 per square mile (158.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98% White and 2% Native American
The town of Lafayette was founded in 1864 by Col. George R. Custer and his unit, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. The town became a mining center during the late 1800s, with many mines being established in what is now Lafayette. In 1907, Lafayette was renamed to honor General Marquis de Lafayette, who served as an American general during the French Revolution and subsequent American War of Independence.
