In 1902, Harry Goddard built the first permanent home in what would become Greenwood Village while working on an oil well near Trinidad springs outside Aspen. Home builder Alfred Ladd followed Goddard's lead soon after and began building homes throughout much ofColorado Springs until he retired in 1978. A few years later, Bob Hope bought part of Ladd's business and renamed it Hope Homes after his friend/actor/commentator/politician/founder of NBCUniversal Broadcasting Co., founder Tom Brokaw
