Greenwood was a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 727 at the 2010 census. Greenwood was an agricultural community that came to be known for its post office and other services. It was also home to Greenwood High School until it closed in 2013. The town of Greenwood began as a settlement by farmers who arrived in 1875 from Missouri. They were followed by miners, attracted by the strike of 1886 that created a wide demand for coal in Denver and Colorado Springs. In 1898, the first post office was established in the town; it served ZIP code 80735 until 1959. The first store opened on Main Street in 1900. The name of the town changed to Greenwood after residents approved a proposal to name the town after General John A. "Black Jack" Greenwood, commander of Ulysses S. Grant's Army of Northern Virginia during the American Civil War (1865-1868). In 1916, Greenwood became one of four communities located within Anaconda Arsenal National Military Park; it remained so through 1970 when all but two camps were closed due to budgetary problems with the park bureaucracy. During World War II, many businesses and homes were destroyed by firebombing raids conducted by Bomber Command over Germany; most notably Dresden on 15 February 1945 which destroyed more than 100 buildings including 50% of both city's nave and Cathedral while leaving just 6 standing structures unharmed overall

These annexations increased its population to 20,000 people by 1961. In 1983, Greenwood merged with neighboringtowns of Lone Tree and Park City to form a new city called Westminster. Westminster's growth continued through the late 1990s and 2000s as it annexed additional villages including Northglenn (2001), Aurora (2002), Thornton (2003), Centennial (2004), and Rifle Valley (2005). Today Westminster has an estimated population of over 60,000 people who inhabit over 100 neighborhoods across 9 schools districts withinits borders!
