Greenwood, Colorado is a city in Adams County, Colorado, United States. The population was 7,878 at the 2010 census. Greenwood was founded in 1892 and named for Greenwood Lake. In 1902, the village of Greenwood was incorporated as a town. The name change came about because residents were not happy with what they perceived as an anti-city sentiment in neighboring Aurora. The first known kitchen knife was made by Edward Cederstrom in 1884. Kitchen knives began to be mass-produced around 1915 when Western Electric joined forces with J&J Cutlery to produce their own line of knives called the "Art of Knife Making." By 1948, Western Electric had closed its doors and production stopped for good. However, some knives still remain today that are produced by various companies including Benchmade, Spyderco and SOG (Samsonite Industries). Beware of fake kitchen knives!

Greenwood is located in and around the city of Fort Morgan, which is adjacent to the Rocky Mountains. The area that now makes up Greenwood was first settled by Americans in 1868 when they arrived on horseback from California. They named their new settlement after General James G. Greenwood, who had led American forces against Mexican forces during the Mexican–American War. Fort Morgan was founded on November 16, 1872 by Lt. Col. Samuel Settle and his men as a military post for riflemen stationed along the railroad between Denver and Larimer County. The fort served as a base of operations for local farmers and ranchers who used it to store goods and conduct trade with travelers passing through Fort Morgan Pass. It also became known as an important location for mining operations because of its proximity to coal mines near Aspen and Trinidad]. The population of Greenwood increased rapidly during the late 19th century due to increasing railroad traffic and development within Fort Morgan itself.residential construction began throughout this period, including several large hotels which were built across from or near Fort Morgan's downtown square. Several churches were also constructed during this time including Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (1893), St Johns Episcopal Church (1901), First Baptist Church (1905), Methodist Episcopal Zion church (1907) and Saint John's Lutheran Church (1920). Greenwood is a town in Larimer County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Greenwood was founded by Latter Day Saints on November 3, 1875 from the town of Golden and surrounding farms as a small outpost on what would become the eastern edge of Denver. The name comes from an early Mormon pioneer leader, Joseph Smith's brother David Greenwood. The first settler in Greenwood was John Waddell who arrived in 1876 and built a log cabin near what is now Arapahoe Street. In 1886, Brigham Young sent his son George to found Logan Grove about four miles east of Greenwood on Pearl Street (now Delaware Avenue). Logan Grove became home to many LDS missionaries during the 19th century and it remained so until 1959 when it merged with Rocky Hill to form Rocky Hill Village which remains today as one of Greenwood's most important economic engines. Greenwood had its start as a small agricultural community that grew slowly due to difficult terrain and lack of resources until around 1900 when railroad transportation made goods transported easier to reach consumers statewide. The growth did not stop there however; business people turned their attention towards real estate development which helped make Greenwood into one of Colorado's wealthiest communities by 1915 thanks in large part to annexation by Aurora Heights and other developments adjacent thereto along Douglas Road including Aurora Mayor Fenton Bramlett becoming president of Consolidated American Trust Company serving all Garfield County before his death in 1923 having been instrumental in increasing streetcar services within Aurora Heights limits while continuing business operations outcompeting Denver businesses through acquisitions over time In 1920s an effort was started for establishment of a public school system within city limits but this eventually proved fruitless due largely to political correctness among some residents who desired more privacy for themselves rather than share any shared opportunities with others The last gasp for progress came during World War II when many businesses within city limits began donating money or materials needed for war production such as radios and tanks before long enough production could be achieved without assistance local citizens were able to take control through cooperative efforts such as Citizens' Committee for Defense Production
