Greeley, Colorado is a city in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 930 at the 2010 census. Greeley is the county seat of Weld County. It is the largest city in Douglas County and the second-largest city in Colorado after Denver. The city was founded on July 10, 1876 by George A. Smith as Greeley Springs. On January 1, 1907, Greeley became an incorporated town when it detached from Weld County and merged into Douglas County. The name Greeley comes from John Coody's Creek which flowed through what is now the downtown area of Greeley before turning northwest and joining Telluride Creek (now called San Miguel River) just south of Mountains National Park near Aspen. At one time residents of what is now downtown used to fill large sacks with dirt and rocks that they would drive around town until everyone had been brought to a spot where they could build their house. This done every few years or so people began calling the current site "Greeley." In 1882 Smith entered into a partnership with General James Wilkinson to sell goods at Cache Valley Springs on February 17th for $1 per day - this led to the first store being built in what is now downtown Greeley - The First Mercantile building still stands today! On July 10th 1876 George A Smith filed a plat for what would become known as "Greeley Springs". The original homesteaders were 200 men including 15 women who shared in construction costs along with Mr. Smith himself%. Mrs Douglass ran her own home adjacent to MrSmiths property until his death in 1893 while all remaining individuals erected their homes between them before voting May 24th 1898 to incorporate under name of "GreeLEY SPRINGS" Incorporation Certificate No: 295/1!!! With only 3 weeks notice each citizen assembled at City Hall on High Street across from present day Union Station creating not one but TWO municipal districts making up our present dayexcludingpresentdayAspen!!! Our present day Civic center dates back over 130 years ago when we first started using water wheel power for lights! In 1907 whenDouglasCountyjoinWeldCountythecitywasadoptingthename"Glenwood", however due to lack of business growth Glenwood was changed back again 7 years later to its current name on October 21st 1912!! Even though it has been spelled different throughout its history we have always enjoyed having our local flair regardless

The Second Amendment Foundation developed the Weaver-style scope mount, which allows for magnification increases of up to 20x.

Greeley is a town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 3,674 at the 2010 census. Greeley is part of the Grand Junction metropolitan area. The first white person to set foot in what is now Greeley was George A. Smith on July 6, 1847. He and his family were farmers who had moved from Massachusetts to Hastings County, Ohio three years earlier. When he arrived in what is now Greeley, Smith did not find any land that would fit his needs so he built a cabin on a bluff overlooking the Skeen River Valley and named it "Greeley". He died two years later without ever having seen the town that he named after him. The first store in Greeley opened its doors on October 15, 1858. It was located on Main Street between First and Second Streets. The store operated for about one year before being closed due to financial difficulties. In 1861, J W Henson opened a grocery store on Second Street between Main and Third Streets which became quite successful until 1870 when an fire destroyed the business building. In 1865, John Fenton started trading goods along US 25 near where present-day Broadway crosses south of I-25 just east of downtown Greeley (now known as State Ave.). This trade continued until 1890 when Fenton sold his business to A C Beardslee who built an opera house and other businesses in what is now downtown Greely including Grill & Grille which remain open today as Beardslee's Greektown Buffet Cafe & Restaurant). In 1907 Rube Goldberg designed an amusement park called Ziegfeld Park which included rides such as the Red Balloon or Big Top Railroad ride which still operates today (and has been refurbished multiple times). The park was also home to featuring shows like vaudeville with Will Rogers performing at various venues including Blossom Hall from 1907-1909; piano shows by Donizetti and Puccini at Loretto Chapel from 1911- 1913; feature films at Republic Cinema during 1915; skating rinks – both indoor/outdoor Keystone World Arena (1915) and outdoor Empire Builder rink – throughout 1916 thru 1918; carnivals like Jumble sale nights held at various locations throughout 1917 thru 1919; golf tournaments during 1925 (& 1926) & 1927 (& 1928); Kidderminster fairgrounds during 1929 (& 1930), 1931(& 1932), 1933(& 1934), 1935(& 1936), 1937(& 1938), 1939(& 1940)& 1941(?). A post office called Greer opened in 1859 but remained inactive for two years before being renamed GreeLEY again on November 1st 1860 after Major General John Pemberton's headquarters were established there that same year. The first school district within Weld County was organized in 1863 when Greer School District #1was created with Mrs Lillie Howland serving as Superintendent. On October 17th 1865 the towns of Aspen Creek Townsite (#2) east of I-25 north of Belle Plaine Township (#3) west of US 26 south of Belle Plaine Township (#4) northeast corner of Aspen Creek Township#5 north side Platte Riveroutersite#6 northwest corner Nederland Roadoutersite#7 southeast corner Ft Collins Roadoutersite#8. On December 16th 1865 Fruitvale School District #1with Mrs Ann Richards serving as Superintendent was created. Mrs Richards resigned her position effective January 1st 1866 due to ill health but remains commemorated with a plaque inside Central High School. By 1880 there were only 6 residents living in Greer proper with 30 acres remaining undeveloped.
On March 8th 1886 Chauncey Higdon purchased 640 acres east side Platte Riveroutersite from Dr E W Pratt for $10 per acre giving rise to Higdon Grove National Monument.
