In 1915, John Hargrave married Adeline Auld, who also came to Fruita from northeastern Colorado. They had two children – Sheila and Johnnie – before they divorced in 1924. Adeline then remarried (again) and moved to Lone Tree after her second divorce; she would eventually outlive her first husband by more than 70 years). During their time together, Adeline andJohn Hargrave went on several trips to South America, Africa, Australia and Canada; they also built a home at 221 First Street in Fruita which they used as their home until their death in 1978. One of Johnnie's brothers-in-law - Harry Crippen - started his own ammunition business called The Rifleman Arms Company with some of his family members when he was mayor of Lone Tree during World War II (he later served as mayor again). After the war ended, Harry Crippen sold his company to The Remington Arms Corporation which then merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) to form what is now known as Browning Firearms Corporation (BFC). This merger happened on October 1st, 1966 which made BFC one of America's largest firearms companies. Over the years, BFC has become one of its most successful businesses; it has produced over 150 million rounds of ammunition!
