One of the most famous gunsmiths in Fruita was John W. Brown who worked at Brown & Company from 1892 to 1935. During his time at Brown & Company, he developed some of the earliest rifles and handguns available on American soil. His work with firearms is commemorated by a plaque located at their former location in downtown Fruita. Other prominent gunsmiths associated with fruita during its early years include J.C. Higgins (1899-1984), Hodge & McGee (1901-1968), and Reavis Bros., Inc.(1910-1996). During World War II, some of the most famous guns made in America were produced in Fruita. Some of these guns included The Mauser 9mm Pistol, The Thompson Submachine Gun, The .30 caliber Colt pistol, and The M1 Garand rifle. Many fruitas residents volunteered their services to serve throughout World War II including both military personnel and civilians. Many local businesses also contributed to war efforts by selling goods and services related to logistics support such as food preparation or truck driving. In 1944, a memorial plaque was dedicated to those who served within the community during World War II by Mayor Harry Pohlman Jr.. Fruita is a small town in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The population was 1,679 at the 2010 census. It is located in Weld County on the east side of the mountains and it is southeast of Golden. The first settler in Fruita was James Hargrave, who arrived in 1868. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1870, he married Martha Jane Fenton and they moved to what is now the northwest corner of town. They had two children: John Hargrave and Martha Jane Cook (later Cook). James Hargrave died in 1872 while out prospecting for copper near present-day Rifle Lake. In 1896, landowner Rufus Bigham bought 8 acres (3 hectares) of property north of present-day Fruita from James Purdy for $600.Bigham named his new homestead "Fruita". He additions to his home were a barn, smokehouse, well and kitchen gardenette/garage. By 1903, he had enlarged his home to include an addition that housed another kitchen gardenette/garage as well as five bedrooms and six bathrooms. In 1907, Fruita became part of Arapahoe County when it was organized from parts of Weld and Adams counties.. The county courthouse was dedicated on October 15th that year by then Sheriff Wm Sibley with Mrs Alice Morse officiating as sponsor . In 1909, Jesse Laughlin began operating Jug & Bottle Store which continued until 1953 when it closed because of World War II dietary restrictions . In 1922 Harry Kapp opened Kapp's Dairy store which also operated until 1953 before closing too due to health concerns after years operation over high temperatures inside! In 1926 Dr Leroy Wimmert started providing medical care including surgery at the old Adobe general store across from today's post office off US Highway 36 southwest of town limits

One such design was the so-called “bootstrap” gun hammer which featured two arms that could be moved independently from each other while held in place by straps instead of arms attached directly to the hammer head. This allowed for greater accuracy when pounding objects with firearm hammers.

Fruita, Colorado is a town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Fruita is located on the eastern edge of the San Juan Mountains and is bordered by Asotin to the north, Silverton to the east, Grand Junction to the south-east and Mesa Verde National Park to the south-west. The area that now makes up Fruita was first settled in 1876 by George Fenton and others from Longmont. In 1886 it was renamed for John A. Fruita, an early settler and rancher in what is now Montezuma County. The townsite had been platted as a village in 1892 but did not take off until after John A.'s death in 1907. In 1916 Oregon entrepreneur Julius Weiser bought 640 acres (248 ha) of land along US 66 northeast of present day Fruita for $10 per acre ($2 million at today's prices). Weiser named his new development "Fruita" after his old home state of Oregon where he had recently moved from London England as part of a business deal with mining magnate Gustavus Adolphus Greeley Sr.. Weiser built fruit orchards and grapes production began onvarious sites around Fruita before finally settling on what is now its central square which he called "Greeley Park". He also founded a lumberyard there which became one of Colorado's leading companies during World War I when demand for wood increased due to munitions production. During World War II many local farmers volunteered their services in various combat roles including working as soldiers on Eighth Air Force bases across western US; some even managed factories run by their friends while they were away fighting overseas! After war ended many fruit growers returned home - among them Arturo Garcia who reopened his Orchard Growers cooperative store building still stands today opposite Main Street - followed by other newcomers like Harry Sadler who opened his Sadler Bakery next door soon thereafter (and remains one of Fruita's most prominent residents). Between 1950-1960 about 60% of all agricultural sales here came from fruits & vegetables! By 1970 only 15%of total economic activity came from manufacturing but this has gradually begun to grow since then with more recent arrivals bringing heavy industry such as trucking jobs into town... Today much more than just agriculture relies on tourism here so restaurants provide much needed employment too!
