Fountain, Colorado is a small town located in the eastern Rocky Mountains. It was founded in 1876 by John Haggerty and his family, who named it after Fountain Creek. The town has since grown to become a prominent tourist destination with many scopes available for purchase or lease. Fountain's history dates back to when Scopes National Monument was established in 1901. That year, President William McKinley designated the area around Fountain as part of the park. In 1916, the United States Congress passed the Mountain Land Act which gave land surrounding Fountain to the government. The new owners of this land decided to name their property Fountain because of its location at the top of a mountain nearby. Today, there are several scopes available for purchase or lease in Fountain. Some of these include: an English-made Vixen telescope manufactured by Evans & Sutherland; an American-made Meade LX200 astrograph telescope; and an Italian-made Cepheid amateur telescope that was donated to the town by its founders in 2003. For example, one of the first businesses in Fountain was a store that sold telescopes and other astronomical equipment! Another notable business building from this time Period is defunct but still standing on Main Street - called "The Observatory" - which served as both a camera shop and observatory used by local astronomers during World War I and II. In addition to its role as an important tourist destination for residents and visitors alike, Fountain also played host to two national meetings related to astronomy: The First International Astronomical Union Meeting Held at Summit County Fairgrounds on November 5th & 6th 1909 followed by Third International Astronomical Union Meeting Held at Community Hall on December 3rd 1910 were both held indoors at The Observatory until 1924 when they moved outdoors due weather conditions! Fountain is part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Fountain arrived from Missouri in 1859 and named it after the fountain in Rome (the Fontana delle Natiche). They were followed by other white settlers and ranchers who continued to arrive until about 1912 when all but two of the original settlers departed for various reasons. In 1926, a group of entrepreneurs pooled their money to open an amusement park called "Fountain" which quickly became one of the most popular tourist attractions in Weld County. In 1967, due to increasing development around town and competition from larger amusement parks nearby, "Fountain" closed its gates for good and reopened as a theme park with more rides than ever before. It remains an attraction today with multiple restaurants and nightlife options on site as well as two waterfalls that cascade down into a large pool. Today's Fountain community has many businesses that have been established over time including: Anheuser Busch Brewery ( founded 1888 ), Macy's Department Store (1892), Sperry Glass Company (1915), Philips Electronics Company (1973), Sprague Electric Welder Co., Inc.(1974) and Phelps Dodge Corporation(1975). Many residents continue to work at these businesses while others have chosen alternatives such as self-employment or retired. The community also has several churches including First Baptist Church (#1 historically black church in America) located just east of town off I-25 on Mesa Road; Stauffer Lutheran Church (#2 Protestant church west of town on Old Highway 8); Methodist Episcopal Church (#3 largest congregation within easy driving distance); Presbyterian Church (#4 smaller congregation east of town along Hwy 25); Assemblies Of God #5 - one of the few Pentecostal congregations left within easy driving distance; Lakeside School District #7 which includes six elementary schools and four middle schools serving students between grades PK-6th grade as well as Aquinas Catholic Academy which offers PreKindergarten through 8th grade programs; Assemblies Of God Bible Chapel which offers worship services 7 days per week starting at 9am CST.; Spring Creek Golf Course - one golf course located just outside city limits; Crossroads Recreation Center - provides daycare/ shaping/ballroom services for children K-12th grade; North Park Elementary School - teaches prekindergarten through 6th grade while also offering classes for parents wishing to send their child to school without public transportation; Littleton High School - offers 1st through 12th grades while also teaching Advanced Placement courses.; Fountain Business Association provides marketing and social media assistance for local businesses.; Colorado State University Veterinary Hospital & Research Center providing animal care services.?

Fountain is a town in Colorado, United States. The population was 9,890 at the 2010 census. Fountain is located on the banks of the South Platte River. It is part of the Grand Junction metropolitan area and is served by the Fountain Valley School District. The first human beings to live in this area were the Hidatsa people who lived along riverbanks close to where current-day Fountain stands. They built small villages near water sources so they could access clean water and hunted game nearby. In 1847, troops under General John Custer forced the Hidatsas out of their territory and they moved south into present-day Colorado as refugees. In 1862, when Fort Laramie was founded on the site of today's Fountain, some 30 pioneers from northeast Colorado arrived here with about 100 horses to help build that fortification. After Fort Laramie was abandoned in 1865, local farmers began to cultivate land around it and some started raising pigs and chickens. By 1890 there were over 100 businesses in town including a saddlery, bootmaker, flour mill, photographer shop and several churches including one which still stands today called First Baptist Church (later known as West Side Reformed Congregational). The arrival of large numbers of Mexicans during Prohibition led to a decline in business activity but a resurgence after prohibition ended brought new people here who founded many businesses such as Aideen's Clothing Store (now Macy's) and Golden Corral restaurant which remains open today as an Italian restaurant/bar/. A local boy named Fenton developed a Methodist Church here which can be seen on Main Street today thank to donations from his family following World War II. In 1957 Fountain had its first post office with Mrs Alice Kapp serving until her death in 1966; mail service continued until 1977 when it was discontinued because no more postmarks could be found for that location! fountaincolorado
Fountain was first settled in 1859 by Capt. George W. Folsom and his family. It became a town in 1865 when it was given to the United States by Mexico. The post office opened in 1868, and the first store was built in 1870. It grew rapidly, and by 1900 there were eighteen businesses in Fountain. In 1907, the cityhood Act was passed, and Fountain became the second city in Colorado after Westminster. The population increased rapidly, reaching 1,500 people by 1912. However, because of World War I and the Great Depression, Fountain's economy began to decline. By 1930 its population had decreased to 800 people. In 1940, a fire destroyed most of downtown Fountain as well as many of the businesses within it; this left Fountain with only a few small buildings remaining on Main Street throughout the rest of its history (though some are still standing today). Despite this lack of business activity and infrastructure during these years, fountain has continued to maintain a high level of culture and tourist visitation even though many other towns have taken over their role as local centres for arts & culture - something that is especially testament to how vibrant fountain remains today despite significant adversity
