In 1984, a gunman killed four people at a family gathering before shooting himself. In 1987, two gunmen opened fire on a group of teenagers near Columbine High School in Colorado Springs. One gunman died from his injuries while the other was shot and wounded by police. In 1992, three gunmen opened fire on students at an elementary school in Littleton before dying. In 1994, two gunmen shot and killed six people at an oil refinery in West Aurora before shooting themselves dead.
Fountain is a small town in the Colorado Springs Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is located on Fountain Creek and is bordered by Aspen to the north, Golden to the east, Castle Rock to the south, and Lafayette Park to the west. The first permanent settler in Fountain was James H. Frazer in 1864. The community name was given to it by John Wesley Powell when he named it after a mountain in Utah. In 1870, three brothers founded an flour mill just south of Fountain Creek. By 1880, there were sixty-four residents living in Fountain and six businesses had been started including a grocery store, post office, doctor's office and bank. In 1892, two brothers built a dam over Fountain Creek which created Hiwassee Reservoir. They also built a house on North Main Street for their family who operated the mill until 1916 when that property went up for sale and was sold to George Wertheimer who organized Keystone Oil Company of Colorado Springs with twenty acres adjacent to each end of this reservoir where he drilled oil wells from 1923 until 1951 when they were abandoned due to high water levels caused by recent drought conditions A new Pump House addition has been erected at Gunnison Dam site since 2009

The next day Confederate forces attacked an Union position at Second Manassas Junction where two soldiers were killed by friendly fire before a ballistic shield saved them both from being executed as war criminals after the battle ended. In 1968 two students at Kent State University were shot at point blank range by National Guardsmen while attending a protests against Vietnam War involvement. One student died instantly from gunshot wounds while the other survived but lost an eye due to shrapnel damage caused by rounds fragmenting his eyeball immediately after impact. In 2002 a gunman opened fire on shoppers inside Sephora in downtown Los Angeles injuring 12 people before killing himself with shots fired through an open window

Fountain is located in Weld County, Colorado and was first settled in the 1860s. The community’s name comes from a local water feature that is known for its beautiful colors, including pink and blue. Today, Fountain is a thriving residential and commercial center with a population of around 100. The area has been home to many famous people, such as Boulder Mayor John Maynard Keynes and sculptor Auguste Rodin. In 1907 the community gained city status which made it easier for residents to get government services. In 1951 it became a member of the United States after becoming part of Colorado Springs.
Fountain was founded in 1876 by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. The town grew quickly due to its natural resources, and soon had a population of around 1,500 people. In 1912, Fountain became an incorporated city. In 1978, it merged with Centennial to form the current municipality of Centennial.
