As the world gentrified, so too did Fountain. A small town in central Colorado Springs, Fountain had been known for its mineral springs since the 1800s and its farmers’ market until the late 19th century. But growth began to increase in the early 20th century as people moved into Fountain and other nearby towns. The population of Fountain nearly doubled between 1910 and 1920, thanks in part to a construction boom that saw new businesses built along Cherry Creek. In 1925, local residents voted to make their community a city. Fountain's rapid growth was due not just to its natural resources but also to its proximity to major American cities. By 1930, it had become one of the most populous communities in Central Colorado Springs. And while it has experienced some slowerdowns over the years – such as during the Great Recession – fountain is today one of CentralColoradoSprings' most bustling neighborhoods. Interestingly enough, though Lafayette Street has always been home to many businesses - including several iron foundries - it wasn't until 1907 that an incorporated business called Lafayette Iron Works was established on what is now Elmira Drive (later renamed Lafayette Avenue). That company manufactured cannons for Ulysses S Grant's army during the Civil War and later became involved in manufacturing autos and other products for area dealerships. During World War II, Fountain played host to large military exercises by General George Custer and his forces; however, there were no civilian casualties attributable to these operations. In fact, much of what we know about wartime life in our community comes from memories of people who lived there postwar- such as historian Shirley Halsey Goodspeed’s book “The People of Fountain: A History from Yesterday” which tells the story of how downtown revitalization led to increased activity near Main Street between 1951-1965 (the same period when Big League baseball began playing at Mile High Park). A similar process happened around Sprinkles Boulevard where various stores opened up over time culminating with Sprinkles Department Store becoming a major landmark on Broad Ripple Boulevard just north of downtown Boulder after opening its doors in 1935 (it remains one of only two department stores remaining open full-time anywhere within 25 miles radius today). Downtown Boulder also experienced significant retail growth during this time period with several blocks coming Development near Beattie Square being developed as multiple high-end retailers merged/opened together starting around 1950 including JCPenney (#4), Macy's #8 & 10 (originally Gimbels) #14 & 16 (Eddie Bauer), Sam's Club (#15), Kohl's (#16) & Neiman Marcus (#17) among others along Broadway between Second and Third Avenues eastward toward Interstates 80 & 91 .

Fountain is a city in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 5,886 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first tool known to have been used in Fountain was an adze. A copper mine called the Foothills worked near Fountain until 1884 when it closed because of gold strikes nearby. A saw mill and gristmill were built around 1900 and 1910 respectively, but both mills went out of business within a few years. The last tool to be manufactured in Fountain was an iron plow in 1922. In 1935, a machine shop was opened by Arthur Wiegand and his son Gordon in what is now the downtown business district of Fountain. In 1948, Wiegand's grandson Dick started Black Jack Tool Works on Main Street with two machines turning small diameter screws and bolts into items such as chairs and window frames. In 1954, Charlie Brown started his own machine shop on East Sixth Avenue which became Brown & Son Machine Shop later that year. In 1957, Barry Goldwater became governor of Colorado and announced plans to promote manufacturing throughout the state including recommendations for expanding the use of machines in farming (which had become increasingly automated). This led to increased interest in Manufacturing within Colorado which culminated with the establishment of Rocky Mountain Tools Corporation (RMT) as one of several new companies created under Governor Goldwater's "New Deal" program intended to stimulate economic growth throughout America via job creation and modernization efforts across many sectors including manufacturing
Fountain, Colorado is a small town located in Weld County, Colorado. The population was 1,793 at the 2010 census. It lies on the edge of what used to be the Pueblo Plateau and is now a densely populated area within the city of Denver. The first people who came to Fountain were the Ute People in 1825. They built their homes near Boulder Creek and hunted deer, elk, and other game there. In 1851, gold was discovered in this area and miners began coming here to prospect for ore. By 1870, Fountain had become an important farming community with several hundred residents. But by 1890 it had shrunk to just 100 people because of various factors including oil production moving eastward into Weld County and new housing developments closer to Denver making Fountain largely indistinguishable from its rural counterparts. But while many residents have passed away since then, the attention given to Fountain has not waned; rather it has grown more prosperous as businesses have moved into downtown areas like Main Street or up North Broadway Avenue which runs through central Fountain (just off Gold Street). This vibrant downtown core features several high-end hotels such as The Ritz-Carlton Denver Airport Hotel and Best Western Plus Keystone Crossing Inn & Suites - both within walking distance of each other as well as restaurants like El Pollo Loco Mexican Grill or Burger King that serve up delicious Americanized Mexican cuisine (and kids will love World's Funniest Dinning Games at nearby Summit Playground).
