Fountain, Colorado is home to the largest Nugget gunsmithing shop in the Western Hemisphere. The shop was founded in 1907 by Hiram Maxim, and continues to be run by his son John Maxim today. In addition to firearms, the shop specializes in metalworking and repairs of all types of machinery. Gun lubrication has been a vital part of machine operation for centuries, and Fountain is one of the few remaining towns in Colorado with a full-time gunsmithing tradition. The first guns were muzzleloaders which required a special oil to prevent fouling on the barrels caused by the air circulation around them. Fountain is part of the Fort Collins–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers to Fountain were three men from England who arrived in 1847. They named their community after Mounted Drummond, a mountain in Scotland which they had seen while on an LDS mission. The first post office was founded in 1851 and was called "Fountain." In 1860, the name of the community changed to "Fountains." In 1902, the Aspen Skiing Company built a resort here and named it Aspen Highlands Resort. In 1990, when Mesa Verde National Park was created, Aspen Highlands Resort became one of its components. From 1990-2012 it also served as headquarters for The Gondola Company until that company's sale to LiftBridge Enterprises LLC in 2013 made Fountain Headquarters again home to the ski industry with newpresidential Tower and two lifts operational daily including weekday morning lift serving 2 valleys each way! The invention of this type of lubricant allowed for faster and more accurate shooting by allowing shooters to apply more pressure on their weapons without having them fall apart. The use of gun lubricants continued through World War II as advances in machineguns and artillery made them necessary for efficient function. During World War II, Japanese soldiers were known to use live rounds with impunity due to the lack of adequate lubrication on their rifles (Kondo 2006). In 1963, American inventor James Worthy developed a new type of gun oil which he named "Worthy's CleanOIL" (Worthy 1963). This new oil was designed specifically for cleaning firearms and was originally used by law enforcement officers as a means of preventing rusting and corrosion on pistols (Carroll 1988). After experiencing success with its use in law enforcement, Worthy began marketing his product worldwide beginning in 1967. Since then, many other companies have adapted or created similar products based off of Worthy's original concept. Today, there are numerous types of gun oils available on the market that allow users to optimize their firearms' performance while protecting them from corrosion and Rust!

Fountain is a small town in Countyline, Colorado. It was founded in 1903 by George Fountain and his wife Elsie. The community traces its roots to the early days of organized farming in the area. The Fountain family operated a five-acre farm that they donated to the town in 1903.
The community's first post office was established in 1904. In 1916, Fountain became the county seat of Moffat County after it was moved from Centennial to Fountain.
In 1930, Fountain incorporated as a village and changed its name to Fountain Valley. The village was disbanded in 1951 and reincorporated as a town on November 1, 1953. On October 2, 1976, Junction City merged into Fountain Valley.
FountainValley has experienced many changes over the years; both physically and culturally. In 1969, when the Interstate 70 bypassed nearby Centennial, many residents chose to move away from their hometown due to the change in scenery. However, over time some have returned and continue to live within the bounds of fountain valley while others have chosen not to return at all and developed new homes elsewhere within fountain valley or outside of it entirely.
Twentieth century life saw growth for both menial jobs during World War I (1918-1921) with military construction jobs coming along afterwards; however these times didn't compare favorably against boom times following World War II (1939-1945).
